Got this idea from the Hershey's website, I think. 9X13 sheet cake frosted with chocolate frosting with melted peanut butter chips piped in as grill lines. Hamburger patties are a thick frosting mixture with gel icing for grill lines. Shishkabobs are made from bamboo skewers and gummy fruits.

When I think of the 4th of July I think of a barbeque with my family! My cake is a chocolate cake with chocolate filling. The grill is made with at Godiva Buttercream Frosting, Mini Burgers of yellow cake, and the grill handles are chocolate covered pretzels. Happy Fourth!!!

Buttercream (sweating buttercream!) with royal icing grill painted with silver dust. Charcoal briquets are shards from the first (broken) grill painted with yellow, red and brown gel food colors. Sweaty but well-received. Note to self: bother to put a tip on the bag next time so the lines are nice and round instead of this way.

Charcoal briquets are shards of royal icing from the spare grill grid (which broke, of course) painted with gel food color. Hamburgers are Peppermint Patties.

Chocolate cake, fudge frosting. The kids help me decorate it for dad with wilton icing writers. Hot dogs and cheeseburgers are from fondant. Cheese is actually taffy that just happened to melt more after it sat overnight!

This is a grill cake I made for a barbecue. It's chocolate with chocolate filling with a chocolate fudge icing (a recipe I found on here). The grill grate is made of color flow and "painted" black with the color spray. The hot dogs are fondant. The "coals" are licorice, and the flames are buttercream.

First attempt at a theme type cake. My neighbor had a birthday and he is a wonderful grill chef. The hamburger and hotdog are made with rolled buttercream icing.- my first attempt at that also.

This was for my father's birthday. I used black Wilton frosting for the side, burnt marshmallows for the "coals", spaghetti coated with brown food coloring for the "grate", and yellow fondant for the "cheese". The "burgers" were chocolate bc covered with crushed oreos.

This was a nightmare! It originally had a base, but the whole cake collapsed onto the counter. The fondant kept tearing and sticking...I've never been so glad to be done with a cake! Chocolate mocha cake with raspberry filling, chocolate mmf with bc decoration. Hamburgers are chocolate cake scraps.

This was my first attempt at doing anything with fondant! This is a yellow cake with fudge filling, frosted with chocolate buttercream. The charcoal "briquets" are actually silver shimmer dust, my dh's idea! The cheeseburgers and hot dogs are fondont. It wasn't so hard to work with; though, I don't think I'll be using it to cover a cake any time soon!

This cake was done for our fathers's day cook out. The cake is actually a dummy cake. I had all of the pieces done (the hamburgers and the cake board) and had started decorating the cake. As I was moving the cake from my counter to my table, I dropped it on the floor. I did not want all of the work I had already done to go to waste so I decided to go ahead and do the grill on a cake dummy.

This is the first time I have used fondant and RI. I made the hamburgers, cheese and hotdogs the night before so when I moved them to the "grill" they started to crack. I also didn't allow enough time for my grill grate pieces made from RI to dry, so I ended up using skewers covered in RI. The food items didn't look like they were hanging off the grill in person like they do here. Everyone loved the cake and we took a picture of all the black tongues from eating the coals :)

This is a cake I did in about 25 minutes. I had the cake made already in the freezer. Wasn't expecting company on Father's Day. So did a rush job. All is buttercream except the hot dogs. Those are fondant.

This was for a combination of events. It was my husbands b-day, our anniversary and farthers day, all on the same day. We went to Ky. speedway to see a nascar race, and we were in a Rv, so naturally we were grilling out too. So I thought this was the perfect cake for the events. Cake was a 10 inch spring form pan. Covered it in black bc, grill lines where white bc, then painted with nu-silver luster dust. Hamburgers, hotdogs, cheese ,tomatoes and pickles are all made out of mmf. Easy one too make.

One of my absolute favourites so far. Brownie cake (naturally!) Covered in fondant. Meat patties/cheese, mushrooms, onion, sausages, & chicken kebabs all in fondant. Spatula in a fondant/gumpaste mix. Bars are fetticine painted black, coals/fire is a mixture cake crumbs, meringue, marshmallows dusted in cocoa & pieces of red and yellow fondant. Happy Birthday is dark chocolate! A real Aussie four burner!

I was very happy with this cake. I got the idea from another CCer and used all buttercream as did she. I don't have an airbrush machine so I used the Wilton Spray-on Color
