This one uses a buttercream icing. The large red roses contrasted with the dark grapes, which was done by a friend.

Chocolate cake with peanut butter icing. PB icing doesn't smooth well at all! Maybe I can talk the bride out of it. Ugh!

I got the idea for this cake from a similar one I found when searching the web. This cake is 2-11x15 inch cakes put together and frosted and decorated in buttercream.

I was very proud of this cake although I had a lot of crumbs in the icing (red velvet). The instructor had us do a hodge podge of techniques. I was very helpful. I think my elephant was the best!!

First time making a diabetic cake & icing. All I can say is the cake tastes ok but it's a good thing there's icing on it because it's very lumpy! Had to flip over the top & put it in the middle because there was NO way to level it!! Very thick batter. Icing wouldn't hold shapes well so had to go with just basic decorating...

I saw a similar cake in a magazine so I decided to make it for a bake sale at my mother-in-laws church. I called the next day to see if the cake was bought...she said no it never made it to the church. She said it smelled so good they ate it for dessert. I was looking foward to seeing how much it would sell for...but I was pleased that it smelled and tasted good.

A cake I did for my boss. She wanted a cake for a bunch of cousin's that were getting together and she wanted the names of the cousins on the cake. She liked the grapes idea and I wrote the names of the cousins all around the outside of the cake. Its all buttercream except for the grapes which are made from fondant. The bottom of the cake is 11x14 with a small oval on top. Vanilla cake with strawberry filling. She was really happy with it.

I had to "throw" this cake together. There are some things I wanted to do different and others I wanted to add but rean out of time. The kids loved it. The cake is half yellow, half choc w/BC. The grapes are malted milk balls brushed with purple luster dust. - FYI-Kool aid does make frosting red but it does NOT taste so good unless someone likes the sour taste!

I do not make full sheet cakes, so I was asked to only decorate the cakes for this Communion event. I had to decorate two cakes exactly the same. The cup is a piping gel transfer, all other work by hand, and all buttercream. I must say that I do not like decorating away from my home. I am glad I had everything I needed.

This cake was a 4 and 2 inch tiered mini cake. The flavor was banana and the filling was strawberry. It was time consuming, but worth it in the end...

it is on a board that is 30" x 15" It is made form two 8" rounds and 1 9'x11'. Then I cut the top 1/4 off of a round and freehanded cutting the rectangle to make the bottom of the chalice. The grapes were cut from the bits left over from the bottom of the chlaice. The host was the easiest part. I just had to place it on the board. I iced it once all white and then added the colors afterwards. I added gold and whote for the rays from the host on the board. I also added the IHS on the host with icing.

8" round. All BC icing. First time making grapes and they were so much fun and easy too! Grapes are dark violet - digital camera turns them blue...ish.

My daughter has worked at the OG for several years and in our town, they are celebrating their 10th anniversary. I created a collage from their menu and a gift card for the cake. The side had buttercream grapes on it also - I'll post that too. I ended up adding a bunch of grapes on each corner at the last minute.

Fondant covered cake with fondant grapes and gumpaste grape leaves. The bride brought a photo she wanted and was very pleased with the outcome. I don't have an airbrush, so I mixed luster dust with vodka and put it in a spray bottle, misted the cake before putting on the leaves, then lightly brushed the surface to blend.

This was just a practice cake. I just started class, and this looked like a challenge. It was fun and I am very pleased with how it turned out. I don't know how to make leaves yet, and I didn't want to muck it up.....
