I made this cake for a 50th Birthday Party at Letchworth State Park (NY), for someone who works
there. The bottom layer is vanilla cake with blueberry filling, covered with buttercream and fondant. The top 2 tiers are chocolate cake with chocolate mousse filling and chocolate frosting. Trees are rice krispie treats with royal icing, some pretzel trunks. Some decorations are fondant and water is homemade piping gel. There are deer at the top but they got cut off in the picture. Thanks for

This one was alot of fun doing. The ice cream cones for the trees, but the most fun was the detail work on the waterfall, especially at the bottom.

I have been looking forward to this cake order for months! I had never used marzipan to sculpt before, but it was so easy! It tints really quickly, shapes well, keeps it's form beautifully and dries semi-hard overnight. I will definitely be using it all the time now for my decorating.

The only thing I changed was instead of making the mushroom stems from fragile sticks of gumpaste, I used toothpicks soaked in coffee then dried out. Easy!

This cake was from last year's Martha Weddings magazine issue.

Ugh...what a tough set up with everyone around giving their opinion and advice to us! 5 tier from a photo Bride brought, we did in frosting with sugar leaves and branches, addded butterfly, and fairies and her topper. Cake was set up in a garage.

This cake was inspired by a Debbie Brown book. I chose to alter it a bit as I needed to make a much bigger cake than what was called for and I had special critter requests. The cake consists of six 6" torted cakes with Raspberry filling and Butter Cream, covered in MMF. All decorations are MMF too!

This Cake was copied from one I saw on It was 4 10" round layers covered in fondant and painted by hand. The gumpate pansies were painted with luster dust and the holly was purchased gumpaste. The mushrooms were fondant as were the ladybugs. The butterflies were edible images covered in piping gel but I never could get them to dry stiff. The limb was Styrofoam covered in fondant. I am still amazed by this cake.

This is a rough cake - it was my very first elborate fondont cake - and it shows! It took me hours and hours to do but was absolutely fun. I swear I refused to throw this one away for at least a couple of months. Ew! I know!

I got the directions for this cake off of It's almost exactly like what they have with one exception. I melted chocolate and stuck pretzels in to make the "campground sign".

This is my first major cake. It took about a month (plus school, work and sleep) to complete, and came out about as well as I could have hoped- (but of course not perfect.) Planned for 500 people, each tier was three layers. The largest was chocolate, the smaller two cakes were lemon cranberry, all covered in black fondant. All of the cupcakes were vanilla. The theme was "enchanted escapade", so everything was decorated with a forest in mind.

I made this for a friend's birthday who just loves gnomes. I did have help from a crafty friend who has been dying to get her hands in some fondant. It was so fun to do since it was for our monthly girls night and NOT a paid order, we could just run with it. The cake is iced in chocolate b/c. The tree trunk is also choc. b/c. The mushroom is covered with fondant and all decorations are handmade with fondant. She cried and I had to choke back the tears.

Three tiered birthday cake, 8"-6"-4" round done in BC. The bottom tier represents the African Savana, the middle, the South American Rain Forest, and the top the North American Mountians. There are animals that were to go with this but . . . I think I like it better without them!

This is a recreation of Debbie Brown's amazing cake. It hurts me to let him go and have someone slice him up.... Cake is 1/2 chocolate fudge, 1/2 vanilla with chocolate bavarian cream filling. The tree is sculpted rice krispy treat. All of the little forest creatures are made from fondant.

Kind of self explanatory....the only cherries in the cake are in the bottom layer (cherry preserves) and the cakes are soaked in kirsch simple syrup

This cake was a lot of fun to do. The couple was celebrating their 5th wedding anniversary, which is the wooden year. So, the wife decided the cake should look like the gag gift that she gave to her husband, which was an actual piece of wood. I covered the cake in chocolate fondant, and used food coloring to create the darker areas. The ladybugs and flowers are also fondant. The grass was royal icing.

I did this cake for a 4 year olds birthday. The idea came form a cake made by JANEK. Thanks so much Jane for the inspiration. It was frosted in BC . The rocks and stepping stones and fish are candy and the rest is fondant. The cake it self was 1/2 yellow, 1/2 choc with oreo cream cheese filling. The flower fairy was supposed to have ShirleyW’s gelatin wings but at 3 am I had to cut a few details out and unfortunately the wings were one of them but I did want to thank her for all of the great info she gave me. I will also post close ups of the unicorn and the fairy if you’d like to see them.
Thanks so much for looking!

This is done in all buttercream with fondant giraffes. I was inspired by several cakes on this site. Thanks to everyone for their help. I do think it could of used more eyes peeping out. There are several animals around the sides of the cake like, monkeys, elephants, snakes, toucan birds, etc. Thanks for looking.

Inspired by an amazing jungle cake by dods, had to simplify it as my cake was much smaller plus i dont have that sort of modeling skill! but i'm quite happy with how it came out. Is a mixture of fondent and marzipan.
