This is the other side of my practice cake. I tried the brush embroidery technique, but because I was too lazy to make fresh royal icing, the brush strokes disappeared in only a few minutes! Next time I'll get it right!

This was a lemon poppy seed cake with lemon buttercream frosting. The flowers are fondant that were later dusted with luster dust but you really can't tell in the picture.

After taking Class I 21 years ago, I decided to go back and finish the rest of the Wilton courses so I could learn to work with fondant. This was my first experience doing a complete cake in fondant and I really liked it!

This is a cake I made for my in-law's 50th anniversary party. It didn't turn out anything like I envisioned. If it could go wrong, it did. I intend to post all that I learned from this later, after I recover from the 3 week sprint to get it done. It is white cake iced in buttercream and dusted with white cake sparkles and gold luster dust. Some of the flowers were fondant, others were silk. I think all ended up ok, but not my best work.

I made a barbie doll cake and placed her on top of a 2-tiered cake. The fondant was homemade...I used a marshmallow fondant recipe. I used a ribbon for the trim.

This was my first time making flowers and ribbons from fondant. I made this "dummy cake" for a Bridal Show display that I attended this past weekend.( First time at a Bridal Show too...) I based the design from a photo in a recent wedding magazine.

Yet another practice with fondant. I've not been able to take classes, so learning as I go is a bit of a sticky, but fun situation. I used part of the Wilton party hat pan to get the flower pot. This was fun to do, but the flowers were tricky to stick on the wires. I didn't like the look of the thicker wire, but the flowers kept turning backwards on the thinner wires! Would appreciate feedback (positive and constuctive).

Another fondant cake. Just a real quick last minute cake, all fondant with edible image of the birthday girl when she was little. Fondant flower spray. Thanks for looking!

This is my favorite cake I've made to date. I cut out all the flowers from fondant, and put a little silver luster dust on them. The cake tiers are oval. This was for my brother's best friend, so it was my wedding gift to them. They picked out a similar design from magazines I had, and told me wedding colors were blue.

Yellow, Chocolate, and Pina Colada Cupcakes with fondant flowers. For a little girls BDay. Clients decided to have a small cake for the girl and a dessert Buffet for the rest of the guests. What a great idea. Will get a display pic from client later to post.

This was my first fondant cake from my Wilton Class 3. I can tell that I need a LOT of practice to get the fondant smooth but I can see how this is something that I'd like to work with more in the future.

My first time ever decorating a cake. Marshmallow fondant flowers on mmf covered cake. MMF was too dry so it is not as smooth as I would have liked. Can't wait to try again.

I had extra batter from graduation cakes last weekend so I used it to make a cake for my family - they're always asking why we never have cake! I had some leftover fondant flowers too. If I had made this for a customer, I would have smoothed it better.

2-Layer 6" milk chocolate with cookies-n-cream filling. Dragon warlord's dream whip buttercream recipe for frosting, chcocolate fondant for tree trunk, MMF for flowers and leaves. The board is covered with a sheet of scrapbook paper that looks like grass, with contact paper on top. The client is giving his friend a Magnolia tree for a birthday gift!

This is from the mini cake pan that bakes both layers together. It worked really well for me. It was for a last minute couples bridal dinner so I didn't have much time, so I just used the #3 tip and made dots and then added cut out fondant flowers dusted with silver luster dust.. I think they're...each couple got one cake.

This is an almond pound cake torted into 4 layers and filled with cherry pastry filling, frosted with a thin layer classic buttercream w/ amaretto in it, and covered in satinice fondant. Didn't exactly look like the picture in my head, but I'm satisifed with it. Used and impression mat for the sides, my first time using one.

I did this cake for a "Cake walk" game at my daughter's school. It was our first foray into fondant and we had SO much fun! Though it kind of sucked that we weren't the ones going to eat it! :)

This is my second attemp at MMF. I was happy with the outcome although there are some definate areas for improvement. The cake was chocolate with a buttercream crumb coating and mmf exterior. The top has silk flowers on it. The bottom trim is buttercream also. It was a big hit. Its only thank to the support and advice from everyone on this site that I was able to pull this off. Thanks everyone!

My first attempt at fondant flowers. I had a blast doing them! Although, I don't think I will use cream cheese frosting to decorate again - it tastes very good but the consistancy is so thin!

I see a lot of people requesting ideas for the Red Hat Society. So I thought I'd post this pic of Mother's Day hat cookies I did a while ago. They could easily be adapted for the Red Hat Society. It's a sugar cookie with a piece of chocolate in the center and covered with fondant.

My son did this fondant cake in his Wilton Course 3 class. He wanted to use more colors for the fondant shapes, but there was really limited time in which to do the cake, by the time he had finished making his fondant roses. He decided to save those for another cake.

I think he has a really good eye for form and design, and has a great future in cake decorating. (Uh-oh, competition!)
