This is just another picture of a cake I did this weekend for my bf's niece! You can see all the imperfections in these pictures but hey... I'm a newbie.. that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it! Darn sun melted all my icing detail!

Clara was sleeping on top of a coconut cake with lemon filling. She was made to go with a buffet table with the theme of "the Nutcracker". The buffet was part of a first term final exam for the pastry chef program I'm in. My table won first place!

I made this for my husband for Father's day .... it is a sculpture of him reading to our 3 kids. I wanted to add more detail including a working lamp that I finished last night and some extra details like a tv remote but I woke up this mornign to check on ym cake and the back of the sofa fell off apparently the figures leaning back was too much pressure over time even with the dowels it just couldn't hold up. the figures weremade of MMF only so they never dried completely hard will add gumtex next time.

I demonstrated how to make these during the 2007 San Diego County Fair this year, I had 1 hour. Most of these were made per request from children in the audience. If you can make a ball out of fondant, you can make these! I got these ideas from polymer clay books!

My daughter had a pool party for her 4th. b-day, the mmf figures are of her and her guest and brothers. The cake is 2- 11x15 cakes side by side. Cut out a pool shape. I had some blue shiny foil, that I used to line the pool, then put some piping gel over it, then added the figures. It was a hit with the kids, they thought it was cool to have a figure of them.

I made this cake for my daughter's 2nd bday. It is covered in fondant and all of the bugs and flowers are fondant as well. I saw a cake made by Tat on here and had to try my hand at it. I did make changes to the original but I thought it came out cute

Agh! Playing with MMF again. This time sculpted a caricature of the birthday girl; based on photo grandmother gave me. Had fun but certainly can't make a profit sculpting fondant unless I get faster. LOL Oh well...it's a learning experience!

This was a cake I made for my best friends son's First Birthday! Didn't come out quite like I had hoped but I was making this cake and the skydiver themed cake the same day! So I was super busy!

Thanks for looking!

This is from the Wilton web site, but I did my people, rollercoaster cars, and flags/sign in MMF. I also did not cover the cake in fondant like they show since this was my first foray into fondant. The pan is the Betty Crocker Bake n' Fill - chocolate cake with chocoalte cream cheese filling (if that won't get a bunch of 8 year olds zinging around the room I don't know what will!)

I took my inspiration from Cheneya for this cake. I also followed a great tutorial by Aine2 for the little girl's face. The figures are fondant mixed with gumtex. The 'hay' on the ground is toasted coconut. The fence is melted candy wafers.

This is one of the two scenes i was asked to make to go with the th over the hill cake... all done in fondant onto a board for them to then use a plate stand one that holds a larger plate no doubt but it stood with another and the cake..

A full view of a cake I did today for a woman who's throwing a surprise party for her best friend that is turning 40 and wanted to give her a hard time about being "over the hill". She was thrilled with it .. I had a lot of fun making it

This figure was on the cake board for my brother in law'a 40th birthday cake. He is a painter by trade, loves his beer and has very little hair. I tried to incorporate all of these things!! The little strips over his ears were for glasses, but I wasn't sure if that looked right or not.

Friend of dil requested a cake that had a fishing/camping theme. I was inspired by Sonoma's fisherman. Cabin is cake, the only thing not edible was the plastic rocking chair and the popsickle sticks that I piped icing on to look something like pine trees. 1/4 sheet with an 8" top layer.

I made this for my first cake show and placed first in my category. The waterfall is Royal icing as is the grass. Everything else is fondant and gumpaste, including the figures and trees.

thanks to kellylow for her cake pics, a huge help on this one. Birthday boy turned 30 on halloween and his wife wanted to incorporate the "over the hill" theme in his halloween cake, so i made a fondant figure of him, looking up at the hill, ready to cross over it. Iced in buttercream with fondant accents. I covered a dowel rod in fondant for the tree. Too late, i realized i iced the "hill" the same color as the sky. oh well, everyone though it was great!

I entered a cake decorating contest, my first, at a local nursing home. It was their 10th birthday and they had a cake decorating contest to celebrate. I did not win and was very sad. I spent more hours than I would like to admit on this cake. It shows the stages of life leading to the nursing home. I made all of the figures (my very first) out of marshmallow fondant.

Thanksgiving turkey, all fondant. I am quite the amateur at painting fondant, so I decided why not practise with the eyes and eyebrows. I can't decide whether to top a cake, or display this with thanksgiving cupcakes. Still deciding...:)

I am new at fondant figures and someone asked me if they gave me a picture if I could make figures to look like the picture. I had no idea but told them I would give it a try. I am pretty proud and think they turned out pretty well. It is for a birthday for the wife in the picture and this picture is from a high school dance they attended together. Hopefully they are as pleased with the people as I am!

I got the idea for this back when I was taking the Wilton Course 1 Cake decorating classes, and saw that my buttercream roses looked more like cabbages.

While this isn't my first cake, it is my first time working with fondant or doing any kind of figure modeling, which I was only able to pull off because of all of Aine2's brilliant tutorials.

A close up of some of the fondant cutout figures. I used marbelized fondant for the fish. Wish my camera angle would have been able to capture the toy boats too. This was the first time I've done these, I think they're cute and they were a lot of fun. Thanks for looking!

10" chocolate cake with white chocolate truffle filling, iced in BC with little fondant cutout figures that went along with the invitations. The rubber duck was painted with super pearl luster dust, as was the bottom border. Edible glitter on top also. Thanks for looking!
