Course I Floral Spray. First time making a birthday cake for myself !

A cake like this takes some effort to transport in one piece, so I divided it into two pieces. The bottom two tiers were carried separately with the dowels in place. The top two were placed at the hall and the bottom border added. I'm a man and it is so much easier to do it this way.

Real flowers adorned this cake. Decoration is fairly simple with lily of the valley. Simple is elegant. It's important to remember to give the florist the dimensions between the pillars for the arrangements. Even providing them with a template will help them in designing the inside arrangements so they enhance the cake.

This is a 4-tier cake with each tier being 4 torted layers of butter and chocolate fudge cake. I used bavarian cream as filling. Icing is all butter cream with hand done scroll work. (My first time not using an impression set.) The monogram of the couple is hidden in the scroll work of the bottom tier--right in the front. All flowers are fresh using lavender roses, "Charmed" austers, "Million Stars" babys breath and baker fern.

A friend of mine had her wedding at the beach this past weekend. This is my first wedding cake and the only picture that I have. She will give me better pictures later. I like making 3-d cakes or novelty cakes better.

I made these for my daughter's 7th birthday party. The flowers are meringue buttercream. I had to rush to finish these--it's amazing I got them done in time!

This was for a girl's 16th Birthday. I saw a similar cake from another member here (can't remember who). My client saw the photo and loved it! The cake itself was a 10 inch carrot cake with white chocolate cream cheese filling and orange Italian meringue buttercream. I'll post a picture of the side also.

This is a full sheet. I had so much fun making this one. I dusted the roses with luster dust and two toned the frosting. This was a big hit for a co-worker that retired this year.

When you have a shop you are asked to make many sheet cakes for many occasions. Here is one floral arrangement that can be used for any occasion. Based on Winblecker's designs. Iced in buttercream. Roses are air-dried b'cream w/some fondant flowers. Borders are from tip 87.

1/2 sheet cake, all buttercream. Rosettes and drop flowers on a vine on top of a lattice design.
I completely messed up the writing, so I scraped off the icing and re-iced. That is not easy to do. I can tell, but I don't think the customer did.

A welcome cake for church recipients at the local base church. The customer was very pleased and asked if I would be still be on base next year (I said yes) and that made me feel good. 1/2 sheet cake, images done by freehand.

I got the idea from one of my Wilton Books and made it in record speed. It was a last minute cake. It was also the first time I ever tried the basket weave techinique. It was a lot harder than I thought! Need more practice. I covered my weave mistakes with the flowers!

cake was donated for an event. there were 150 people there, and she put my cards in everyone's bag, so hopefully i'll get a cake or two. the theme of the event was beauty in bloom, with gerbera daisies. she put the cake on the flower table (said more people look at flowers, vs desserts) so i just tried to make it blend with the whole concept. mmf daisies with bc roses, the greenery is colorflow.

Just playing around to see how to create the cascade for this cake. This cake is the back of a recycled dummy, from my magazine ad. The flowers are some of the ones I made for a wedding coming up in June. The bride chose just about every flower under the sun! Gumpaste casablanca lilies, calla lilies, tulips, lilacs, and stephanotis (not included in this photo) all in spring pastels. The wedding cake I'm making for her is going to be pale purple fondant and only 3 tiers, but 5 sprays of flowers.

Strawberry cake with strawberry filling and buttercream icing. This was for the kids across the street to give their Mother. They did yard work for me in exchange for the cake. It was a good deal for me and very thoughtful of the kids.

Did this for a friend... cakes are homemade pound cake filled with a white chocolate/cool whip and fresh fruit (might be too soft though...?) and iced with a whipped buttercream recipe I got from work. Flowers are done in royal. I wanted it to look yummy as well as pretty, so it is kinda simple but I thought they'd like it.

I was just playing around and this is what I came up w/. Cake is butter with b/c and strawberry preserves, covered in fondant. I tried draping the fondant over the edge of the cake to kind of relate to a possible dress (also the buttons).

I was nervous doing this cake because when the customer came in and told me what she wanted, she kept saying that she wants it to be perfect and wonderful for her mom and then she started crying-which in turn made me cry! Anyway, all buttercream with the exception of fondant daisies. Thanks to lacielou76 for doing the roses ahead of time for one of her cakes and letting me snag a few for mine.
