Made for a friend of mine for her grandmother's 85th birthday party! My inspiration was the Fiesta cakes done by TripletMom - as you can tell since this is almost an exact close as I could get it! Sombrero, Chiles and Serape are made from fondant

My first BIG fondant cake - and last! Each layer was 4 layers, everything made from scratch, it took me over 13 hours to make. I made the critical error of not staking it (a lesson only needed to learn ONCE). The customer picked it up, had only to go a few blocks, put it on his backseat.... the whole cake crashed. I was absolutely heart sick when I attended the party and discovered my cake in the kitchen. Live and learn!

This baby shower cake was designed for a couple expecting twins, and the theme of the shower was "Mexican fiesta"! All buttercream w/ fondant accents and babies. Quite unusual, I know!

When I saw these cakes in the food cake contest, I had to have a FIESTA party for my son's 2nd birthday party just so I could make them. To make them look more real I added texture to the shell. The tedious work paid off. They were a hit! Everyone thought they were actually tacos, not realizing it was the cake. I made a separate one for a plate with a candle in it for the birhtday boy. Thank you to all those who posted theirs and gave instructions and tips!!

The words Feliz Cumpleanos Wesley say Happy Birthday Wesley...and because my brother-in-law always goes around saying encanta means I'm Loving It! (In Spanish) from the Mcdonalds slogan....He laughed so hard and we finally got him back by singing Happy Birthday in Spanish....the thing is none of us know Spanish except Happy Birthday because he does it do us on our birthdays!!!! ha ha

The theme of this cake progressed from the earth to the sky with things Mexican. Silver, zinnias, chili peppers, guitar, serape, hat, mission church and bell, Our Lady of Guadaloupe (the blue and yellow rays, and Castellian roses), and a Talavera sun.All decorations are gumpaste While it does show an amature's attempt at large scale fondant and painting, it was fun to do and lots was learned.

I had so much fun making this cake. It was for my best friend's daughter's 13th birthday! She had a Mexican Fiesta theme. It's coconut cake with coconut buttercream. I have to say, that's the best flavor buttercream I've had yet! She was thrilled with this cake. Very last minute, but I think it came out pretty decent!!! Thanks for takin' a look!

This 1/4 sheet cake was for a fiesta themed baby shower. Iced in yellow buttercream with a basket weave pattern on the sides using tips #47 & #10. The center oval was made with a #16 tip and the border with a #32 tip. Plastic maracas were used as a topper.

A fiesta theme birthday for my kids led to my third attempt at a cake before a wiltons class. All butter cream and it was so hot that even that was melting. Huge (just fit in the oven) round for base and 8" dome pan for top

This cake was to play up an old family nickname. I just love it when people make an effort to make the cake so personal! :) It is a half sheet cake, white filled with fresh strawberries and low-sugar strawberry preserves, and frosted with freshly whipped cream. The maracas are each half of a sports ball pan, and iced with BC. The border on the big cake is BC also.

He is from Mexico and she is from Wisconsin. They were having a Fiesta shower and wanted bright colors (their wedding colors are brown and pink). So, I tried my best. Not the easiest subject considering the color/theme combination

This was for a 6 year old who wanted a "Fiesta" themed birthday party. It is a 10" round 2-layer strawberry cake with buttercream icing and decorations, and fondant red peppers. This was inspired by an old Wilton year book and changed to better suit the birthday girl's tastes.

This is a 6/8/10 with BC. Red chiles at the bottom are fondant. Colors were bright red, yellow, orange and green, though photo doesn't show that very well.
