This cake was inspired by the decor of an old brothel and the fashion of the women who worked there. This was for a 30th birthday. The cake is covered in red fondant with black and gold details.

Hoot Owl cake with cookie accents, oreo style cookies used to make feathers, beak and eyes! The cookies were IGA brand and were slightly softer than oreos so worked better for cutting and shaping. Really happy with how it turned out and so was my owl collecting Momma! :)

This is my third cake, I really like the way it turned out. White cake with buttercream frosting. I did my first chocolate transfers for the windmill and Can-Can girl. Chocolate swirls and chocolate covered strawberries. This cake was so much fun! I surprised a friend for her birthday...she loved it!

Well, I intended to make the strips in Fondant (it would have looked much neater) but it didn't work out, so it is buttercream. The pink bow is MMF.

Made this cake for my son's friend. I was suppose to make a headdress, but that didn't work out, so I came up with this design. If I was to make it again, I would spend more time to make the leather on the drum look more realistic. Butter pecan covered with bc and fondant. Tipee is bbq skewers covered in fondant, feathers are fondant sprayed. TFL

10" chocolate sponge with chocolate buttercream, 7" vanilla sponge with jam and vanilla buttercream. I was asked for a bright pink bottom tier with silver hearts and a pale pink top tier with hearts in a complimentary colour. A burst of pastillage hearts on silver wires with the number 12 (for her age!) and pink feathers (provided by the girl's mum)

This was an experiment to see if I could recreate the unusual 'feathers' wedding cakes I've seen. 10", 7" and 4" polystyrene dummies covered with sugarpate and hand-cut wafer paper for decoration, then sprayed with pearl lustre. Not entirely happy with it.... I think I'll try again in the future, but with 4 or 5 tiers and only 2" difference between the tiers, not 3" like I've used this time. But the overall effect isn't bad.

Based on a photo the bride provided, the cake was designed in a teal/turquoise blue buttercream with dark blue scrolls accented with gold candies. A cluster of peacock feathers bloom from the top, and several feathers line the base of the bottom cake.

This was certainly a labour of love. I don't think I would like to do this shape again in a hurry, it took forever. 8inch base with 3 x 6 inch cakes carved on top. Gumpaste roses and pearls with material and feathers.
Didn't get it as smooth as I had hoped.

Sq. 6-8-10 design on cake is replica of design on bride's dress. Hand painted then piped with purple icing and ivory dragees for pearls. Real peacock feathers were used with tulle backing. 1st tier Spice/Apricot/Kahlua & Cream icing, 2nd/3rd tier Lemon/CreamCheese/Creme Brule icing. Lemon cake was dyed Dark Purple. Butter Cupcakes with purple icing. Feather topper, bride wanted "Over the Top" on this cake. I wasn't sure about it at first but am pleased with final look. Comments welcomed!

Matching the cake to the invitation is usually not hard. Unless the bride wants the damask pattern used. The pattern was hand painted ont he bottom tier, stripes and dots in fondant. The pearl pins holding the ribbon on helped give the cake the over all look of a hat box.
