I made this cake for my Dad because his favorite hobby is building and flying radio controlled airplanes. He made his masterpiece from scratch and has flown it flawlessly (if you make just one mistake, it's bye-bye plane!) so I thought this would be a suitable tribute to his accomplishment. Those are his colors and id letters just like the real thing! The motor at the nose of the plane is made from royal icing. The rest is decorated in bc.

I used candy clay for the figures of my dad, hubby, brother-in-law and his dad. The icing is fondant and so is the scroll.

I've planned to spend couple of days including Father's Day at the mountains with my whole family. So I decided to bake the cake at home and decorate it while vacationing the night before Father's Day. Saturday night to my big surprise, I found out that my hubby left home the bag with most of the trimmings needed for the cake's decoration. At this point, I am five hours away from home and no cake decoration stores around and very frustrated...still today....very frustrated....

This cake was done on a spur of the moment. My BF's father took his car drag racing on Father's day. The 2 1/2 Ton Indian (car name) logo is in the top corner. While my dad really enjoys nascar, favorite driver #48 Jimmie Johnson, Bottom corner. So I encorperated both into this cake. My first BCT, which I learned a few lessons. Glad they were small transfers I had to redo the Indian a few times to get it right.

2005 Father's Day cake. Fondant wood planks and nails for lettering, fondant picket fence and tape measure. Wilton's tool candle set. Buttercream grass, writing and border.

My husband is a handy guy and this just seemed like a good fit for Father's Day. He is building a fence in our backyard so that's what gave me the idea.

I made this cake for my father in law. I used the doll cake pan and cut the mountain in half. I filled in with icing and used a papertowel to smooth the surface! The sand trap is made with crumbled graham crackers and the trees are made with sugar cones and stiff buttercream frosting.

The only directions given to me for my fiance's birthday cake were for it to say Go Cougars, and be "Cougar Blue." He was on the Cougar Golf team in High School, it is a joke with all of the guys...and they loved it!! It was a little hard to make without him knowing. Fondant score card and IPOD on the dash (this is how he plays golf!) BC on Cardboard for the top, Fondant didn't make the cut!

I took this to Hobby Lobby last night right before my class and by the time class was over (2 hours) someone had put a big hole in it! I am so discouraged - what makes people want to destroy things like this???

My husband is a hard working guy, and a very interactive father. He's earned a day off, but can't seem to get one! So, I figured if he can't sleep in, maybe his cake could! He wanted a rich, chocolate cake, so that's what he got... and then some!

Orange cake with vanilla cream filling and french vanilla buttercream. Customer wanted a Fathers Day cake and said his favorite color is blue, so this is what I came up with. Fondant and royal icing accents.

I copied this idea from another user here on Cake Central. I loved her idea and decided to attempt to make it and have it auctioned off at our Youth Bake Sale at church. It brought in $50 towards thier Mission Trip this summer. THe outside is Pirouline Cookies (Pirouettes?), with Chocolate frosting and chocolate cake, with a cute ribbon on the outside.

Each little mouse represents one of our kids. The two older girls are smelling the flowers, the boys are sliding down the leaf slide, and the baby is asleep in a flower with a bandaged paw, because she burned her hand two weeks ago. All flowers, mice, leaves, and bumble bee are made out of fondant. Grass is buttercream. The top layer is white cake with strawberry filling, bottom cake is chocolate fudge cake with fudgy chocolate orange filling. I made this for my final wilton 3 class for fathers day.

This is a yellow cake with buttercream icing. I was trying for the painted buttercream technique, but boy do I have a lot to learn. All in all, I'm happy with the outcome though. Thanks so much to talmas for the pointers.

This is a lemon cake with raspberry filling and the Wilton BC recipe. The NY was done using the frozen buttercream recipe (my first attempt at it) and the baseballs and baseball bat is made out of a gumpaste fondant mix.

I made this Fathers Day cake for my husband! I don't know much about cake decorating yet, I'm still very new to this. But this cake was very easy, just decorative icing & cookies covered in frosting, decorated to look like patties. The shishkabobs are gummy fruits on wodden skewers. Thanks to all the other BBQ cakes on this site for inspiration!

This is the cake my friend and I made for her father...I am in the process of making a similar one if the chocolate cake will just behave and stay out of the icing. We used the pin prick method and just filled it in. To me the fish looked taunting enough to go with the writing at the top. LOL Both of our fathers immensely enjoy fishing.

Our annual trip together ALWAYS involves this cooler, so I decided to replicate it in honor of my husband and my father. Beer Cake; Cherry BC filling; Fondant covering, zippers, strap; gelatin ice. Unfortunately, made this the same day I came down with Strep, so it all goes in the trash! It's the thought that counts I guess! Thanks for looking.
