From the popular Disney film Shrek, this cake brings out the imagination using some commercial available figures, and some of our own edible figurines. The airbrushed colors of the tree, grass and mountain bring out the cardboard castle theme too..

My neice asked me for a crooked cake for her graduation - she likes things out of the ordinary and this is what I came up with. The cakes were iced with buttercream and then I cut out the shape from fondant and placed them on the cakes. They were seperated by styrofoam cut on angles and then I used curled ribbon to hide that. It was a big hit. You could use this design for basically any occassion.

I made this cake for my daughter's 3rd birthday last month - she loves mermaids at the moment. The water is made from a large lamington sized chocolate cake cut in tw covered with chocolate buttercream ,draped with blue fondant. The sand is crushed biscuits. The rock is a pudding bowl chocolate cake carved into a rock shape and covered with buttercream. The mermaid is made from fondant and the torso and head are modelling fondant. The seahorses are made from granulated sugar pressed into a sandpit mould

This is a wedding cake that was custom made for a Medieval themed wedding. At the bride and grooms request, the bottom layer is German Chocolate with traditional German chocolate filling and Chocolate Buttercream icing. The top layer is Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese icing.

The exterior decorations are made of fondant, royal icing, and buttercream icing. The entire cake is enhanced with shimmer dust to give it an iridescent glimmer.

Again a fantasy wedding cake and the couple choose to be a knight and a female wizard, fighting against a dragon. Cake is covered with fondant and the stones, leaves and "trees" are made from fondant, too. All figures are made form polymer clay and the eyes from the wizard and the dragon are Swarovski Kristalls. The "sky" is blue luster dust with a little bit of black, painted with a sponge.

This was a cake that I donated to my son's Cub Scout Pack. The theme for the camp was fantasy so I sculpted an awesome dragon and a cub scout to sit next to him on a castle. The turrets are oreo cookies covered in fondant. Everything is edible. I wish I had a better pic of the dragon..he was soooo cute, he had iridescent scales that changed from teal to blue.

I made this for a friend's birthday who just loves gnomes. I did have help from a crafty friend who has been dying to get her hands in some fondant. It was so fun to do since it was for our monthly girls night and NOT a paid order, we could just run with it. The cake is iced in chocolate b/c. The tree trunk is also choc. b/c. The mushroom is covered with fondant and all decorations are handmade with fondant. She cried and I had to choke back the tears.

This is a strawberry cake with dark chocolate BC on 8 inch base and regular BC with strawberry filling on 6 inch top. Dragonflies, flowers and leaves are all edible molded from Pettinice. Your critique for positive improvement would be especially welcome.

The castle was made with a sandcastle pan. I used buttercream to turn it into a real castle. Rocks are candy, the drawbridge is made from Kit Kats and the soldiers are figurines that belonged to the birthday boy. The dragon was two bunt cakes cut and formed into the fire breathing dragon. It sat on a cardboard sheet over a pan that contained dry ice. I inserted two straws down through the nostrils and through holes in the cardboard. We added water and smoke came out the dragons nose.

This was made for a 4yr. old birthday party. I used the actual deck, pirates, cannons and sails from a Leggo ship. The deserted Island was made from candy rocks and graham cracker crumbs. The oceans was made from frosting. The ship was two-3 layered cakes stood up on their sides. There were gummy sharks in the water. It was hard to get a good picture of the entire cake. The kids are still talking about this cake two years later!!

This was a wedding cake for 900 guests. 4' wide x 3' deep x 4' tall. The turrets on the corners are cut from plywood and iced with royal icing. Two layers are hatboxes iced in royal icing with pink velum paper over the windows and battery operated white xmas lights on the inside. The edible part is 12-9x13 layers, 3-10" round layers, 8-8" round layers, and 2-6" rounds. My #1 comment once it was set up and in place: "Never EVER Again!" (Now, 4 years later it doesn't seem as bad).

This is my first attempt at a castle cake. It took a while to really come up with good ideas... I bypassed paper towel rolls and pringles cans, and ended up with PVC pipes for the towers. All decorations are BC except the silver dragees and rhinestones. Hard to tell in the picture, but the entire thing is liberally dusted with cake sparkles. It looked a lot better in person, it seems the photos never do the cake justice!

Did this for a church fund-raiser. Wish that I had had more notice so that I could have made the cupcakes (72 of them) look fancy with some flowers etc. The cake and cupcakes are lavender but my camera made them look blue.

Tinkerbell is a fbct. White edible dust is sprinkled over the cake and roses. Super Pearl Dust is used to make her look like she is sprinkling dust on the flower she is holding. The colors are dark purple and light camera made the colors look blue.

This is my first time at fondant people. The cake is chocolate with buttercream, fondant, and cooked sugar. The dragonfly has blue cooked sugar for the wings and fondant body. The fairy is fondant. This was my first attempt with cooked sugar and fondant people. I had the most trouble with her face. Better luck next time. lol

This was for my father's 75th birthday. The cake is decorated in fondant and buttercream. The towers are pringles cans covered in fondant and buttercream. The coat of arms is fondant, as are the doors and windows. I wanted to add fondant rocks around the tops of the towers and the castle, but I ran out of fondant.

This is my first wedding cake for my brother. It was inspired by a cake in the Wilton Weddings book. The colors chosen were matched to the invitation (bronze and teal). 15", 9" and 6" petal pans. Each cake was 4 layer. Devil's Food with chocolate whipped cream filling and pineapple cake with pineapple filling. The flowers are the "fantasy flower" painted with pearl luster dust.
