This is my 22nd Annual 2005 San Diego Cake Club's Cakes on Parade Cake Contest entry in the Scuplture category. This cake didn't place in the top 3 but I got soooo many inquiries and postive comments on it. Appearently the crowds and my fellow decorators loved it, just not the judges. This was an engineering feat getting the flower bowl to stay on top of the "batter pour". Decorated in fondant, gumpaste, pastillage, royal icing, rice paper, and lots of pearl, luster dusts, and edible glitter.

When my sisters boyfriend turned 49, I gave him this one.
It was for give my own name to his gueasts.
They loved it. For their next party they will come to me.
But I had a rose made of flowerpaste on it, and that I will never do again. It started to melt. Toooooo bad.

This is a full sheet, (1/2 chocolate, 1/2 banana), with a whipped topping. I drew the picture by hand then traced it onto a kopykake transfer sheet with food coloring pens. Then I laid it on the cake and filled in with gels. I airbrushed it with green, because that was my co-workers favorite color, and added sprinkles for a final touch.

This cake was for my Mom's office. I got to choose any theme for the decorations, and thought this would be fun.

This was for my daughter's 7th birthday. The Barbie's skirt was made with the Wondermold pan and is on top of a single 8-inch layer. It is on top of 8-inch and 10-inch tiers. The dress bodice is made of marshmallow fondat. The skirt petals (inspired by a cake on this site-thank you!) are MMF mixed with a little gumpaste. The rest of the cake is iced in meringue buttercream. The roses are meringue buttercream also. The heart is gumpaste dusted with pearl dust. Wings are edible wafer paper with pearl dust.

This was made for my boss' daughter, she turned 10. I made the sides of the cake to look like ruffles on a dress with the little flowers to give it a little color. I used a foam decoration because it was a last minute cake and had no time to do a BCT or use rice paper.

This was for my second daughter's first birthday. She's our little princess and deserved a fairy castle! This was taken from a book I own and some pictures at the site.

Thanks for looking,

The Lettering is White Chocolate with Pearl Dust, area's on cake are also accented with Pearl Dust. The Frosting is Butter-cream. The cake was a wonderful success.

This is a blue version of Debbie Brown's Sugarplum Fairy. I didn't have a garner cutter to make it petalish, so I tried to make the skirts as ragged and "tulle-like" as possible. I'm still learning how to model with MMF but I really like this cake!

Here I go again with a miniature cake! Made this for my 4yo daughter's bday tomorrow for a small family get together (6 people total). This one the tiers are pushed back instead of centered on the tier below it, just wanted to try something different. (I think I like it centered better, but hindsight is 20/20) The doll on top was only $1.00 at the Dollar General store!! I'm heading back this week to buy more, they're so cute! Thanks for looking.

This is my first attempt at a castle cake. I was pleased with the end result. It was inspired on Grammasue's castle (if you haven't seen it, you should, it's gorgeous!!). It is vanilla cake with raspberry filling and covered in MMF. Flowers are fondant and top of towers are ice cream cones covered in buttercream and purple sparkles.

A lesson well learned...cream cheese icing is waay to thin for star tip decorating! But it did turn out looking like cobblestones (sort of), which is a good thing. The 4yo Princess loved it!

Full sheet, whipped cream topping, (Very hard to decorate with!) My daughter wanted something "Mystic" for her baby shower cake. I found the saying "The two things you should give your child are roots and wings" and loved it, so I incorperated it into the cake. ie: Tree=Roots and Fairy=Wings.

This cake was baked in a Pyrex bowl and covered in MMF. I airbrushed the fondant with pearl dust and added the lines in ivory. The wheels and accents are all in gumpaste. I didn't know how to get the gumpaste to roll out properly as I have seen on this site in other pics (letters made of gumpaste). I couldn't get a long enough piece. Any ideas would be welcome. One wheel broke beyond repair. I would probably use an edible image to do the door next time instead of painting it on.

First castle I have done...turrets are ice cream cones coated in candy, although the bottoms looked bad so I covered them again with icing "stones". Also dusted with pearl dust.

This was for a little girls' first birthday, the bottom layer and top 'baby' layer was white with almond buttercream, the middle layer was chocolate with strawberry filling. The 'towers' were paper towel rolls and ice cream cones covered in fondant. Stone impression mat to give texture, purple luster dust for tops of towers. Fondant banner and flag.

Just posted this picture as it shows a lot more detail in the dress and the cake board than the ones i took last night. This one was taken in daylight. It helped a lot.
