As the final practical for my Wedding Cake class I had to make a wedding cake. The cake is actually a dummy cake which is styrofoam. the cakes are covered in fondant and decorated with royal icing lace points and brushed embroidery. I made the calla lilys out of gumpaste and petal dusted the colors on. The board is also covered in fondant and crimped. Enjoy and let me know what you think!

four tiered wedding cake; covered with fondant; each tier was decorated with white fondant roses and leaves, all connected with royal icing; between the tieres are cake dummies, acting as support and also to hold the flowers (white, pink & red silk roses). There is a small white butterfly 'fluttering' & peeking out from between the flowers at each tier. I was also a guestat this wedding & the mother of the bride come over to thank me personally for the beautiful & elegant cake.

This is my 2nd fondant cake. I did this one for my Elegant Fondant class. I made easter lilies for my flowers, but they were still wet in the bottom of it. So when i tried to take them out, they were breaking. So I just left them in the foil.

This is also my mother's cake. This is a 4 tier cake with hand made and hand painted gum paste/fondant mix calla lilies toppers on each layer. Those are not real calla lillies! There are several hunderd in graduating sizes. This cake was made for a 50th wedding anniversary that was held in Biloxi MS the day before Hurricane Katrina hit Mississippi.

This was a practice cake I did for picture purposes. I have an interview with a local hotel to start doing wedding cakes for them and I wanted some pictures to show them. It has its flaws but I think it is great for a picture.

This is my entry in the Oklahoma Sugar Art Show 2006. It's title was "Ship of Dreams". The dome on top is a recreation of the dome in the Grand Staircase of the Titanic. I earned a Silver Division award based on points earned. Thanks for looking!

This is my first fondant covered cake. It's a butter pecan cake with buttercream icing. Covered in white fondant and buttercream design/roses.
Like I said, this is my first fondant cake so the surface isn't too smooth, but I'm working on it :)

I needed a cake last minute. I saw a similar cake (swirls idea) here on CC but cannot remember whose it was to give credit.... The cake is white almond sour cream with buttercream icing and roses. The butterfly is chocolate. Sparkles all over.

My co-workers niece fell in love with a cake she saw online and
asked me to make it for her since it fit her theme perfectly. This is my interpretation of the original adding my own touches. It is vanilla cake
as requested , covered in Pettinice fondant and filled with chocolate buttercream and dulce de leche. It took about 40 hours from start to finish. My most
labor intensive project to date.

I did not make these gumpaste flowers. This was a last minute cake order (yesterday) and so I had to purchase a premade arrangement that I dismanted and reassembled to my liking. I have posted a seperate photo of the sides of this cake.

This was done for a girl who didn't want to give any impute in her wedding. Very rare!! So I did the "chunky elegant" look ... didn't know what flowers I was going to have and didn't have a topper. The night before the wedding I finally convinced her to go and buy a topper ... after the initial shock I really liked the look (added silver curling ribbon to pull it together.) In the end everyone was happy!

12~10~8 inch squares offset with gold sheer ribbon around tiers, fresh flowers cascading and both the bride and groom became "E.J" after the wedding...hence the double monograms

The unique thing of this cake is the way it is iced. From an old Celebrate Wilton book, the design uses waxed paper scallops that are attached to the tier. Once in place, the cake is re-iced in the color. The templates are removed and the ruffles are added. Tea roses are placed at the top of each garland. Pretty and elegant.
