This was my first time trying a 2-tiered cake and trying to get crazy with the colors and patterns. I think it turned out ok, but next time could be better... Decorated mainly with fondant, some buttercream.

All BC. Made for a Kindergarten's class party for Dr. Seuss' birthday organized by a lady finishing up her speech pathology masters program (part of a final project). I copied this idea from a couple of different cakes on CC so thanks to whomever that was!!!

This cake was made for a Read Across America celebration at my son's school. The top layers were the hat for the cat in the hat. The bottom layers had many of the Dr. Seuss book titles printed along with "sound" words. The idea was good but the cake did not travel well so this could be considered a caketastrophe as well. Vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry cake with buttercream icing.

A tribute to Dr. Seuss for the school. The characters were cut from gumpaste and free-hand painted. The fish and the candle are sculpted using gumpaste. The kite is suspended on a black wire that wraps around all the tiers. There are stacks of miniture books under the middle tier and the polka-dot dress is on the side of the 'cake', but they are not seen to well in this photo. The hat and the cake have red and white striped cake inside, and the box has a red and white polka-dot cake inside. I had tremendous fun designing this cake!

This was a cake I made for my son's school for Reading is Fundamental. It was the first one I've ever done like this. The hat is rice crispy treats iced in BC, then wraped in fondant. Things 1 & 2 are Royal Icing. Thanks for looking.

I've had the directions to try one of these cakes since 2007. Finally a friend asked if I would try one for her son's birthday. As a matter of fact, I made two. It was scary as I started, but was thrilled when done!

I made this rolled fondant topsy-turvy cake for a friend's baby shower. The decorations are made from rolled fondant and gumpaste. I made the cake topper from fondant/gumpaste.

Customer wanted a Dr. Seuss cake and I wasn't sure of make the images from fondant so I used the edible images on fondant. This was my first attempt at this. I was very pleased with the turnout. This was really a fun cake. Bottom layer is chocolate fudge and top is vanilla with buttercream. All accents are fondant/gumpaste.

This is one of my most favorite cakes yet! It was for a Dr. Seuss themed baby shower. The m-2-b painted beautiful Dr. Seuss scenes all over the nursery, so it was neat to be able to do this for her. The bottom tier was directly inspires by auntiemcakes, and the top was inspired by many other cakes here on cc. I used my airbrush for a lot of the color, and a tiny paintbrush with black airbrush color for the details. It took about 4 hours just to decorate! TFL!

This was a very short notice favor for a friend's daughter. Everything is fondant except the characters, since it was such short notice I just printed out images of the characters and placed them on the cake. The tops of the "specs" is cotton candy. TFL!

Thing 1 and Thing 2 - Black and white. This was done on fondant icing with black paste, freehand with a very small paint brush. Was not happy with this one after adding color in. Could have left it black and white and only put border on and the school probably would have been just as happy. Live and learn
