Made this cake after I finished Course 1. I wanted to practice my roses. I was pretty pleased with the outcome, although I did go a little dot crazy! LOL

10 Cakes for a Theatre Group's formal luncheon. All different flavors and fillings, Chocolate Buttercream and Buttercream icing with MMF accents. My first time making bows, good practice! But...I think it will be a long time to never before I do this many cakes in a week again, this is a hobby!

I just wanted to add this picture, because I was searching this site for an example of a 30th birthday cake for a man, and couldn't find one that I could use. Most of the cakes were for women, or were very elaborate & this cake only needed to serve 7 & also had to travel with my friend for an hour in the car.... so, I hope this helps someone in the future, to find a simple idea! =)

I think we need a category for "just because" cakes, i seem to always stick them in b-day cakes, or mother's day cakes. anyway, iced in bc with fondant polka-dots- made for sister in law chocolate with raspberry

Thanks to the forums this cake went smoothly. I was well prepared and knew exactly what to do. The bow on top is made of fondant. Enjoy!

The photographer was crooked, not the cake! Wanted something less formal to give as a gift the next day, but also wanted to use up my roses. Would have preferred to do pink and purple roses in slightly darker shade of cake covering, but not enough time for this purpose. Thanks for looking and sharing comments/critique.

Used the Wilton Question Mark pan for this cake. Drew the six with dots on a piece of waxed paper and did FBCT. All icing in buttercream. Would do fondant dots next time on the sides of the cake.

I've been busy making purses this mother's day! After seeing the lovely polka dot cakes here at CC, I've always wanted to make one. It was fun making this.

I made this for a friend. She wanted a simple, all white, round wedding cake with dots and a bow on top. This was to serve 150+ (not counting the top tier). It was lemon cake with lemon filling.....all buttercream icing except for the MMF bow....Now for the horrible part.....I was just getting over the flu and I guess I blame my forgetfullness on that.....I didn't use dowel rods when stacking this.....and u guessed it, it started to lean back and the bottom tier started cracking after I left.....

Oval Lemon Cake with Lemon Cream Cheese Filling and BC frosting. THANK YOU CC for the recipes!!! YOu are all awesome! The design is a mix from the Wilton books. These were the first Royal Icing flowers made outside of class. Out of 17 flowers I only had these 4 that did not break. My icing was too thick I think. I do have to say....Boy did my hand get a workout from all those dots! :-)

This is a full sheet cake (1/2 choc. 1/2 white) iced with almond BC. It was done for a friend's daughter who was graduating from highschool. She is going on to college to major in music education, thus the music notes. The pink and lime green dots are fondant, everything else is BC.

Thanks for looking.

This is a white cake for my soon to be daughter-in-law- brother's wedding. The bride likes the swiss dots look and she wanted hearts as well as the initial of her soon to be last name.

Looks pretty good huh? Well this was after working on it for countless hours and before moving it. I thought I would save some time and put it together at home. (I had done it before and everything went fine!!) Lesson learned! After all was said and done it turned out to be two layers shorter! Luckily the bride wasn't mad!! I was very fortunate for that.

This was a cake I was not thinking would turn out well. The dark brown icing is not chocolate - just brown! 9" layer is white cake with raspberry, top is a 6" chocolate cake with raspberry too. The colors were deep pink, light pink, brown and lime green....to match the invitation (which is in the picture on the right) This is also the smash cake from H*** too - my first time at trying to freeze a cake (which is why it is decorated all in the "dots" nothing else would work!) It was 90 out this day too!

My first wedding cake. Butter cake with buttercream icing. The Bride wanted some thing simple to add her own topper and flowers too! I am happy with the way it turned out but I have never been so nervous!

I was inspired by pics from this site on this one. Cake is covered entirely in mmf with mmf accents. Crown is gumpaste with hard tack candy jewels. I would have made the letters on the bottom tier stand out more clearly if I had it to do over. Otherwise...fun cake. It weighed about 60 pounds I think!

This cake was covered in buttercream and fondant "balls" covered in pearl dust. The dimensions were 6", 8", 10", 12" and 14". The bow on top was made of 1/2 fondant and 1/2 gumpaste mixture and outlined with silver dust.

This is a two tier marble cake. The first tier is an 8" round and the second tier is a 6" round. The cake is frosted with cali4dawn's buttercream frosting and filled with white chocolate pudding. The top tier is decorated with cornelli lace (tip 2) and the second tier is just random dots with round tips 3 and 5. I am not very proud of my cornelli lace...I was doing it last minute on an empty stomach so my hand was not very steady as it could have been.
