This is my first cake. It was for my daughters first birthday with the "pink poodle" theme. It is a chocolate and vanilla layered cake. 3 layers in each tier. I used fondant to cover, do the stripes, polka dots and dog bones. I used chocolate molds for the letters attached with pipe cleaners.

6 and 10 inch layers of vanilla cake with buttercrem frosting. This cake was for an outside surprise party. It made me a little nervous. Outside in the summer in Mississippi is not always a good idea! It went over great!

This is a vanilla cake with buttercream frosting and filling. It was lots of fun to make. This was my 2nd cake. I torted it into 4 layers. It gave me a chance to practice lots of skills. Lots of Rosette practice.

I made this for my 12 year old niece to match her birthday invitaions. Top layer is French Vanilla, bottom is Chocolate with a Chocolate Buttercream icing. Polka dots are fondant...I tried to make MMF polka dots, but could not get the consistency right and unfortunately had to use regular fondant (not so yummy)

I made this cake for a show I'm doing today. It will be raffled off at the end. I wanted the colors and dots to resemble my website. I also made round cookies with the same colors. Yellow cake with Satin Ice fondant.

My first wedding cake!! 16-12-8 16 is triple choc fudge with rasp. buttercream filling. 12/8 are white cake with vanilla filling. Bride was very happy with this. Yes the topper is a christmas tree topper, I thought getting it on the long dowel and getting it straight would be the death of me.

Still practicing with MMF...I think I may have finally gotten a feel for it! This is my practice dummy, it is always displayed on my kitchen table. It is done from leftover MMF from my weekend cakes. I change it with the seasons (or when the mood strikes me!) Had so much fun making the bow and may make another one for a baby shower cake stis weekend!

Any tips or constructive critism welcome and appreciated!

This was a pretty simple cake. It looked better in person and did not photograph well at all. 15,11,7 inch tiers. Nothing really special the bow is gumpaste with super pearl luster dust.

Thanks for looking.

My first triple stacked tiered cake. I used 9" round on bottom for a little step, then two 8" for top. I loved throwing the dot sprinkles at the side of cake to get them to stick. I did the stars cascading to fill in space.

This is a bridal shower cake that I did for one of my best friends. It was my first ever attempt at tulips and now I know I have a lot to work on!! I love parrot tulips, so I tried to do some of them as well. She loved it so that makes me happy.

Buttercream with fondant parts. Just a fun cake to practice with. I took it to my mom's work and got about 5 Cake orders. Sometimes free is worth it. I carved the bottom cake before frosting it.

3 tiers covered in a light burgandy fondant. All piping decorations were done with royal icing and flowers are fondant. I took the dot idea from Martha Stewarts project for dot china. I thought it would look awesome on a cake. Can't see it in the picture, but the cake has a coating of luster dust to make it shimmery. I was up until 3:30AM finishing this puppy for today. Way too sleep deprived! Comment and critiques welcomed!

These were my very first buttercream roses that even closely resembled a rose...they were the whole reason I took the Wilton course 1!! I can make roses out of anything except buttercream...as soon as the instructor showed up...it clicked in my brain and out came BC roses!! I couldn't believe it I have been struggling with these buggers forever it seems. I know I need to keep practicing but I"m just glad they resemble roses now LOL

Well...I tried out a new icing and I think it started to melt and pulled the fondant down with it (as you can see by the dents near the bottom). Guess I won't do that again!

WIth a lot of inspiring ideas from ccmembers - the cake finally turned out to be a polka dot cake. If you think the icing looks nice - that's because my DH has a lot of plastering experience - and after 5 minutes he took over the icing part;-)

This is my second attempt at fondant, first attempt with MMF. (No pictures of the first disaster!)

It's all MMF, with devil's food cake and cookies and cream filling underneath.

And comments/critiques/suggestions welcome! :)

This is my first MMF cake. It is a 5" butter cake filled with strawberry filling. I learned to roll my MMF thinner to cover the cake if I don't want a dome effect. With it rounded, it looks kind of like a Strawberry Shortcake or Mario Brothers cake. Also, I learned to measure the circumference of the cake for the ribbon at the bottom so that I don't have so many seams.

Hi! This is the first time I made a cake for someone after taking session 1 in the Wilton class. I made it to match her dress for her 2nd birthday (Bonnie Jean Disco Dots) and used Necco Wafers and had fun with it!
The dress is here

Unfortunately they didn't have darker dots, but I worked with what I had (and 8 rolls of necco wafers! LOL)

TFL :)
