I made this in october for my grandaughter's 3rd b-day. It was my first appempt at a doll cake and I was pleased with the final result. I used a real Barbie rather than the doll pic that came with the pan. I used a 10" round 3" high for the base. I made a hole thru the dress cake (and filled it with icing) to accommodate the doll and had to backfill with icing to form a midriff because the doll was pretty tall. But it was pretty easy and Maddy's reaction to it made it worth the work.

Doll's dark skin was requested by my customer. The outfit resembles the same one the girl wore on her birthday.

these were my 1st fondant cakes and my 1st doll cakes! one was strawberry the other chocolate and vanilla layered. both filled with buttercream and "dressed" like they were before we disrobed them. They were for my neice's birthday. One for the family party and one for her Princess party. I embossed the fondant with clay embossing sheets.

This was for a co-worker's 6 year old "Little Mermaid" birthday party. This is the first cake I made for someone else - I just started cake decorating about 6 months ago and up to now it's been all practice.
The small shells, starfish and pearls are handmade fondant painted with luster dust. The large shells are molded candy sitting on brown sugar sand. The treasure chest is graham crackers with chocolate basket weave. The seaweed is royal icing but everything else is buttercream. I had great fun!

My first time working with fondant--I had fun! It's not "perfect", but my daughter loved it anyway. I used clear glitter dust on the ruffles to make her sparkle.

I starred in the dress, shoes on this doll and made to pom-pom's with a grass tip. I used a hexagon shape pan and put pansies on the top corners. To say the least, this little girl fell in love with her birthday cake!

Barbie's fish tail is made of gumpaste and fondant, making it appear that she sits on the cake. She is actually stuck into the center as requested by my 6 yr old. The shells are moulded chocolate and the coral is royal icing. All is theoretically edible except for Barbie herself.

I used the Wilton Wondermold cake pan and the doll pick that came with it. I just took off the head of a Barbie we had and put in on the pick.

I made this cake for my 33rd bday, crazy..... but since i dont have the wonder mold i thought why not try this out. My kids were stunned to see this doll cake. I call my daughter sleeping beauty because she really sleeps well and this prompted me to make a sleeping beauty cake.

This was for my daughter's 7th birthday. The Barbie's skirt was made with the Wondermold pan and is on top of a single 8-inch layer. It is on top of 8-inch and 10-inch tiers. The dress bodice is made of marshmallow fondat. The skirt petals (inspired by a cake on this site-thank you!) are MMF mixed with a little gumpaste. The rest of the cake is iced in meringue buttercream. The roses are meringue buttercream also. The heart is gumpaste dusted with pearl dust. Wings are edible wafer paper with pearl dust.

This was my first doll cake made with the Wondermold pan. I didn't realize that a full Barbie would not fit in that cake so my hubbie got to do some "surgery" on her. Thankfully it was for my best friend's 2 year old who didn't play with Barbies yet. Everything is buttercream except for the fondant bow and sash.

Customer ordered this for her four year old. MMF used with buttercream design work and cake sparkles to give the skirt a "shimmery" effect. This was my first doll cake.
