I learned how to make the daffodils in a Nicholas Lodge class I took in St. Louis last week. The cake was inspired by one of boween's...i loved all her little critters. daffodils are made out of gumpaste.

This was for my friend's mom...they both loved it!

A friend was moving and I needed a Spring idea, so I made this. I like how the basketweave turned out, but the daffodils were my first attempt, and I've since practiced and improved, but here is the cake.

I copied this off the cake in Good Housekeeping magazine but changed the bunny to two daffodil flowers. It was fun making it. I loved that I had to buy a bag of M&M's for the project and eat the rest that weren't green. :-)

This was a birthday cake for my mother-in-law. It was my first time making flowers out of fondant (fondant mixed with gumpaste powder). Unfortunately, the pot started to crack at the bottom - I think the cake inside was lopsided and it was leaning forward. oops! Fortunately the cake was good - it was 4 layers of chocolate cake with cookies and cream filling. I got so rattled when it started to break, I forgot to write Happy Birthday! Any advice for working with fondant successfully?

I thought I'd try making some gumpaste flowers. They're nice but not nearly as nice as ones I've seen on here. The gumpaste is wilton ready made, and the instructions for the flowers were in the booklet that came with the flower cutter set.

Wedding cake for a woman who loves daffodils. She also wanted daffodil cookies which I posted under cookies. she got married at home and the place was filled with daffodils from her friend's garden as well as another friend's grandmother's garden. yellow and white with touches of silver around the house. her son said, "This cakes matches perfectly."

Another view (there are so many little details on this cake!) The story to this cake is that Easter Bunny Jnr had pinched the basket of eggs and is hiding on the tree stump, feasting on chocolate (which is all over his face!)

This is a 1/4 sheet cake . I cut a peice of wax paper to cover the center of the cake leaving about 1 1/2 inch border all the way around and sprayed it with the pink wilton color mist spray, then I figure piped the baby booties and chilled them in the freezer so I could place them on the cake. I did the reverse border then put all the roses, daffodils, daisies, and vines on. This was my first time with the booties, daffodils, and reverse border. Thanks for looking!!!!!!!
