Yellow cake with vanilla-almond frosting, torted and filled with alternating raspberry jam and v/a frosting.  The cherry blossoms are an alteration on the apple blossom, made with buttercream, as here in Japan, cherry blossoms are beautiful and abundant in the spring.  The pastor and his wife are going back to the states, so this was a farewell cake and she loved the cherry blossom festivals.  Both cakes were almost completely gone and I got some upcoming orders.

Anniversary cake covered in peach MMF with MMF flowers and royal icing stems (wire stem on top of cake).  Royal icing butterflies with gel icing wings.

This is the cake i posted earlier, with the toppers the bride wanted, i put them on at the reception, i still dont know why she got different sizes, i dont like it at all!!!
The tiers are 10,8 and 6 inches, 3 or so inches tall.

White cake covered in fondant, royal icing cherry blossom limbs and fondant cherry blossoms. Spout, handle, dollie and teacups are Pettinice as well. Since the cake was smaller, I also made cherry blossom sugar cookies to go along with it.  I learned a lot from this cake and your feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I did this cake before for a farewell.  Someone saw it on my website and asked me to do it for her Mom's 70th birthday.  White cake with almond icing.  Crusting buttercream cherry blossoms, thanks to CC for the recipe.

Peanut butter cake, raspberry filling, BC icing. Chocolate fondant w/tylose branch, gumpaste cherry blossoms. This cake was a nightmare. The wedding was at the zoo, and I was told I would be able to pull my car to the reception site. Wrong. I had to carry this cake through the China Exhibit, in Memphis, in JUNE. It was hot and humid, and by the time I got to the table the tiers had shifted a little. Nothing I could do at that point - so here it is. I'm also not happy with the branch, it's out of proportion.

Chocolate mousse cake covered with white fondant and decorated with gum paste flowers.  The branch is made of modelling chocolate.  I made the mistake of not putting enough support on the bottom layer so it is sinking in the left side of the cake.

Cake for a celebration in our city, our town has a sister city in Japan & it was the 10th anniversary of the partnership. Fondant emblem, flags, cherry blossoms and branches , 16", 12" and 8" frosted in gold buttercream. (Imagined more of a real gold color of icing in my mind! I guess they meant 'gold-yellow' on the container.

OK, so the picture was from InStyle magazine, a cool $15 a serving... And here was my interpretation of it...Two (two-tiered) 10" rounds on top of one another, and then a 6" on top.  Fondant branches, gumpaste flowers on wire... Ribbon around bottom

Cake covered in mmf with stenciled characters, writing and flowers painted using food coloring and extract. MMF cherry blossoms all over top and along sides. Little drink umbrellas. Cake was made to celebrate anniversary of adopting my daughter in China:)

Created for the East Central Arts Council juried art show which opens November 11, 2006. She is a torted one layer sculpted butter cake folded like a sandwich. Except for the four cake dowels in the screen behind her and the one cake dowel in the cake, this artist doll and screen is entirely edible. Satin Ice Fondant, royal icing, piping gel and luster dust accents. Thank you for looking.

My sister-in-law loves anything asian/ oriental so I kinda went with that for the theme. The lemon frosting was a little thinner then it probably should've been so things started to slide a little :) but it tasted great. Lemon cake, lemon filling, lemon BC frosting. She loooooves lemon! I used fondant for the base a little left over icing and gel paste to make the butterfly.

This was definitely not my favorite cake, but the bride and groom loved it.  They took the dragon idea from a cake they found online and I replicated it the best I could.  The dragon took forever to do but I am really happy with the way it turned out.  The bride asked for all of the different colors to be used, and luckily, she liked them b/c I was afraid after she saw them all together she would change her mind, but she didn't!  YAY!  French Vanilla cake with chocolate WCBC filling and BC icing.

Round cake dummies,fondant covered,BC decorations and fondant flowers.My first attempt at cherry blossoms,well sort off (Im crazy about them,reminds me the day I got married).The tree is painted with Wilton brown,and the little fuschia blossoms are BC (big mistake,nothing like RI to decorate).Borders are BC,cornelli lace on the top,all the cake dusted with super pearl.I wanted the green ribbon to be satin but I forgot to buy it.Fondant ribbon is a little hard to make.I had a lot of fun.

FL ICES mini classes with Nick Lodge.  This is his toile French purse cake paired with a sprig of gum paste cherry blossoms.  I love the toile stencil, but black powdered color is ....uggh..messy.

I was just playing around with candy melts and ended up making this cake.  Not my greatest, but I liked how the tree branches came out using the chocolate.  Chocolate cake and buttercream icing.

I had my Japanese friend write the characters for Happy Birthday on a sheet of paper and then I copied them onto the cake, I was hoping I didn't miss any little asterisk, line or dot but she said it looked correct (I hope she didn't lie to be nice :)) On the left of the writing is supposed to be a cherry blossom tree or Sakura, buttercream icing and royal flowers

I made this cake this weekend for the small cake competition here on base.  I got 3rd place.  This cake was all about Okinawa.  I made the cherry blossoms, the kokeshi doll and the Okinawan inspired fan from fondant.  My filling was Beni Imo also known as the Okinawan Sweet Potato.  It is purple.  I am thrilled with how it turned out.  It is exactly as I  planned.

This is a cake I did as a result of a fundraising auction at church.  I auctioned one ready-made cake with the promise of two more and this is the second cake.  Chocolate cake with dark chocolate buttercream and chocolate transfer cherry blossoms.

For my SIL's birthday. White and red velvet layer cake, filled and iced with cream cheese frosting. Decoration is all BC. Red velvet crumbs around the sides. Thanks for looking :)

This is a two tier fondant covered cake. I tried to do a mad hatter cake but I off set the bottom to much so is a little too tilted. I am very happy with the way the cherry blossoms came out and the tree.

I had done a cake similar to this one before, but I liked the contrast of the border color to the base cake on this one.  One of my last cakes I will be doing for awhile.

This cake was made for a friends bridal shower.  The shower had a tea theme.  The cake is covered in fondant and the cherry blossom design is painted on and the blossoms are fondant.

I made this for my birthday! No one wanted to make me a cake, they threw me a party but refused to make a cake! Anyway, bottom  two 8 inches are white cake with black raspberry filling (YUMMMMM), vanilla buttercream. The top two 6 inch cakes are key lime with vanilla buttercream filling and frosting. Modeling chocolate cherry blossom branch and gum paste blossoms (dusted with rose colored luster dust). The key lime cake was the hit of the party!

Fondant covered square cake with royal icing scrolls in gold. Cherry blossoms in brushed embrodiery and hand painted sugar pearls. 50th Anniversary celebration on a yacht which unfortunately did not have much lighting.
