Chocolate cake, buttercream icing and flowers. It was for Valentines Day, for a co-worker of my husbands, he wanted one for his girlfriend who's favorite flowers are carnations, and favorite color is purple. They sort of look like mums in the picture though

This is the cake I did for a funeral for tomorrow. Its suppose to be carnations, maroon and a shade lighter for a few. They kind of look like mums in the pic but they really did turn out pretty in person. I didn't want to put to bright of colors on it or to much, wanted to keep it kind of plain and simple for that kind of occasion. I put a little scroll work in the corners on top, can't see real well in the pic either. I wanted to say thanks to everyone for the help earlier and the ideas!

Just fooling around with some left over IMBC. Thought I'd practice flowers. I need a LOT more practice. I guess I got at least 1 passable carnation. The asters are a complete loss...can't figure those out, my points weren't pointy. My roses resemble cabbages. I do like my rosebuds, though! Practice, practice, practice! (oh, those other things are s'pozed ta be sweet peas.....) :-(

One of eight Pettinice carnation, buttercup, seed pods and leaf, bouquets with logo sugar tag created as a National Payroll Week luncheon "party favor". First time for the carnation! Your critique would be greatly appreciated.

nice lady named flory asked me to make her a little bday cake. this is my first attempt at fondant flowers. supposed to be gumpaste but don't have ingredients readily available here in germany. anyway... that's what haphazardly-made fondant carnations look like. she actually wanted to pay! of course i didn't let her. it was compliment enough that she asked me to make her cake.

A copy of Martha Stewart's version from the Weddings magazine. (Hers was pale pink.) Just done by zigzagging the #104 rose tip up the sides in a line. Looks complex, but it's REALLY easy! Took 15 minutes to ice the entire cake of 3 tiers.

This was a last minute wedding cake for Sat. after Thanksgiving. Two tier 8" and 12". Cake is white/chocolate marbel with BC icing. The florial arrangement is all gum paste. Grandmother of groom ordered the cake - said to do whatever I wanted, just told me that the bride liked dark purple and was using a mixture of flowers. The ribbon around the cake is a very deep purple - didn't photo well

Choc. cake filled with whipped milk choc. ganache. Decorated in buttercream except for sun rays which are chocolate. I made for a woman I know who loves the color orange and who is always so bright to be around. I'm delivering it as a surprise tomorrow.

My first attempt at gumpaste carnations. I've been really intimidated by all that frilling. It really wasn't bad!! They're pretty fast to make compared to a lot of other flowers

Made this cake just for practice and learned to do the carnations during my first cake club meeting. Also how to put the hearts on little wires. Its White Almond Sour Cream cake (which is amazing!) covered in MMF. Took it to a friends home party to share and it got me 2 new orders!

Choclate cake with Chocolate Mousse filling. This cake was a headache for me. The book cracked right down the middle. I was able to fix it with frosting. Then I had a terrible time trying to make the sides look like pages. The end result was ok, but not what I had originally pictured in my head. It never seems to work out like what I have pictured, but then, I think that's because in my head I'm a better decorator than I am in real life...hahaha. Thanks for looking

I didn't want to complete this in class because I knew some of the elements would take too long, so did it at home to bring in. Luckily we will still be learning things tomorrow nite. So, how did I do? Still have to work on making the fondant smoother on top and the very bottom sides, but all in all I am extremely happy with the way it turned out

This is my very first floral arrangement using gumpaste flowers/leaves. We were working on carnations and daises in my Wilton Fondant/Gumpaste class and I asked lots of questions on how to wire them and this is my result. I can't wait to try more!! I wish I could understand though how some of you get such great color blends on some of your flowers. Any comments or suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks for looking,.. enjoy the photo. I hope to post more flowers here as I learn more!!

Cake I did for the McKinney, TX show. Earned a 2nd place. Carnations and swags are gumpaste. Can't tell too well in the pic but the striped cake is textured. RI stringwork on bottom tier.

Someone would have to pay me serious money to have me do very many of these on a cake, I'm sick of looking at them!

Final cake for Fondant & Gumpaste class. Lemon cake with lemon filling, iced in a generous layer of buttercream then covered in Fondant. The Carnations and ribbons are gumpaste. No, I didn't spill a bottle of pepto bismol for that pink! I was watching the baseball game and putting "drops" of pink coloring on my fondant at the same time. In my excitement of the game the drops became a stream real quick! LOL. Oh well, it was for us to eat anyway since it is my last Wilton class cake.

Florist paste flowers - Decided to have ago at doing selection of flowers others than roses. Flowers are -Orchid, rose, sweet pea & carnation (other than the carnation & roses, I have never done sweet pea & an orchid before). Lid is sugarpaste with bow made from sugar modelling paste. Leaves & bow were brushed with confectioners glazes to make them look more real. Cake is rum & brandy fruit cakel.
