This was my other fair entry from last night for the Special Occasion/Parties cake division. I used royal icing and painted with food coloring after it dried. The bottom collar broke into 4 pieces while I was putting it together! I "glued" it to the base with more royal icing. This is my first royal iced cake.

I made this cake for my dd's friend. It is buttercream with fondant butterfly and flowers. The cake is chocolate and filled with oreos and buttercream. The icing "wrinkled" a bit as I was adhering the flowers to the side of the cake but overall I was happy.

This was a gift cake for two little girls - sisters whose birthdays were a few days apart. This design was a copy of their party plates and napkins, and they just love butterflies. It's iced in bc and the butterfly and flowers are fondant. The butterfly body is cake. I couldn't decide whether to refridgerate it, but it was SO hot that I had to with the bc - so that's why there's some condensation. But of course, the kids loved it anyway.

This was a very interesting cake to make...I had a very picky customer who wanted me to use special recipes for the cake and the frosting...so I couldn't get the frosting as smooth as I could with my buttercream frosting. Anyway, here is the finished cake....it turned out ok. Thanks for looking!

A cake for my niece's 4th Birthday. Mandarin Orange cake with Pineapple filling. Lots of decorations I've found from scrapbooking areas of stores and also stickers. The cake is from a clipart that I blew up & traced onto parchment.

This is a cake we made for one of our girls 7th birthday, she wanted a pretty magical butterfly. Wilton pan was the best way around this... she chose the colours and looks pretty... needless to say she was happy and very little time involved in making it...

The theme of the show was "New Beginnings". My cake represented the life cycle as a caterpillar turns into a butterfly. There were 5 size stages of caterpillars shown, as well as the crysalis and butterflies on top.
The butterflies were made following directions on this site. I hand-modeled the caterpillars and colored them with a combination of pens and gel colors. The leaves were made with marbelized fondant.

Here's a selection of cookies I made today to put in cookie bouquets. My SIL is having an open house Saturday so I'm attempting to sell some bouquets(hope they are good enough to sell). Will post pictures of the bouquets when they are done.

Sugar Cookies Using Antonia's Royal Icing Recipe and Directions. Very easy to do. Thanks Antonia! These were made for a little girl's 5th birthday. She nuts about butterflies and sparkles so I added the edible glitter.

10" Round French Vanilla Cake w/ Vanilla BC icing. Decorated sugar cookies using antonia74 icing recipe. This was an order for a 5 year old b-day. I also made enough cookies to give out as favors too since I had left over dough.

This Cake was copied from one I saw on weddingchannel.com. It was 4 10" round layers covered in fondant and painted by hand. The gumpate pansies were painted with luster dust and the holly was purchased gumpaste. The mushrooms were fondant as were the ladybugs. The butterflies were edible images covered in piping gel but I never could get them to dry stiff. The limb was Styrofoam covered in fondant. I am still amazed by this cake.

This cake went a little wrong, well a lot wrong. It's a buttercake filled with fresh cream, peaches and caramel. I didnt really want to make it because i know how moist this cake can be and it does not do well for carving. But the customer loves this cake base so i went ahead. It was meant to be a very shapr angled pot and once the fondant was applied it became rounded. The colour of the terracotta was obtained using pink, orange, black and dark brown. The roses are buttercream, the butterfly is gumpaste.

This is a last minute cake that I did for a girls who said she wanted a light purple icing with dark purple writing and a butterfly in the middle. I added the green butterfly sprinkles to give it some color. I thought it was cute.

Birthday cake made for a little girl named Summer. Buttercream sky. Fondant grass, sun face, flowers, snail and lady bugs. Royal icing sun rays and butterflies, with gel piped over. (butterfly wings have gel icing "windows") In retrospect, I should have had the sun tilted so you didn't have to look straight down the cake to see the face. But my favourite cake so far!
