School is going to be starting again soon, so I'm working on these cookies for my children to bring on the first day of school.

My DH works for the school district as a counselor/psychologist. His co-workers have been asking for a cake for a while now, so this seemed like the perfect chance to do it. They all work so hard, they deserve a treat now and then!

Golden Yellow fondant colour used and the cake is the whimsical bakehouse white cake recipe which seems to be dense enough for a 3d cake.

This cake was for a launch party for a local school board candidate. The top of the cake is a buttercream replica of his campaign sign and the sides have fondant school buses (the icon on his campaign).

Flat cake specifically requested for a good bye party for a teacher. Covered in MMF with gel icing for lights and royal icing windows. All painting done with food colouring. The kids on the cake are students from the class - they went nuts when they saw themselves!

I made this for my daughter's pre-k class. They were learning about transportation. I used pillars to hold up the cake and put cupcakes sideways around the pillars to make wheels.

My sons's second birthday cake. He was fascinated with buses after seeing his sisters get on one for school. And again it's not my best work because I don't give myself enough time when it comes to working on my kid's cakes. It was fun though and my son loved it. The red parts are gummy candies and the wheels are oreos.

Made this for my dad for father's day. Was not able to put the black piping around - ran out of time. I know now how to get the windows straight. Idea came from FamilyFun.com.

Design is from lilrev here on cc--thanks! Bus is propped up on a disposable plastic container, wheels are cupcakes and bus is made from 2 loaves of cake...used the 3D Wedding Cake recipe found here. This was a fun one--and I just had to make the road & grass on the board!

This was my first cocoa transfer cake. Windows could use some straighter edges. Practice makes perfect they say, but is there a perfect cake?

Decorated in RI. I made a bunch of these as gifts for a group of teachers for a customer. Missing in the pic are the school buses, science lab equipment, flowers, etc but the idea was really nice. I've got to work on getting my books neater!!

Devils chocolate cake covered in white chocolate ganache. Bus made with fondant and painted. This was for my 4 year olds christening. HE was baptized with his 2 year old brother and we had a large party so I wanted the cakes to act as desserts rather than big centre pieces-hence the very simple design! The cake board was covered with cake balls, but they went very quickley before I got a photo.

I made this cake for my mom who is a school bus driver. She didn't want us to cut it. hahaha. Took me longer than I thought it would. I would put more detail into it next time.

This cake was made for my uncle's 75th birthday. He drives a school
bus. I told him I know he drives the long bus...but since I put ugly
pictures of family members on the bus I made him a short bus... You
can't see all the pictures, but the driver is asleep at the wheel and the
rest of the riders aren't looking much better.
