Made for my husband's co-workers, no special reason, just to show appreciation. Choc cake with rhubarb filling, iced in bc, fondant accents. Was really hard to keep from shaking when I painted on the Logo etc. but I think it turned out ok

This is a graduation cake I did recently (photos are blacked out for purposes of posting here).

The left side had a baby picture and the right side was a current picture of the graduate. I used the larger of the Wilton book pans, but put it on top of an 11x15 cake to make it taller. This was a lot of cake and very heavy. If you make a cake this large, I recommend putting it on a plywood cake board to keep it from cracking.

Bad picture of the first grad/book cake I did for my neice. This is a 3 layer cake. I re-did the cake again in a 4 layer version for another grad party. Either way - I thought it was a cool idea.

This is a 1/2 sheet cake shaped to a book. The cake was for a Graduation and it is to resemble a memory book. It has pictures of the student through his years of school including his grad picture. The grad cap is made w/a 6" round cake as the base and the top is solid chocolate with a royal icing tassle to match the school colors. The cap is secure with dowels.

For our youngest daughter's high school graduation. All buttercream. My first attempt at multiple layers with a cardboard/drinking straws support system. Everything looks a little wiggly and not-perfect --- but I figured that's what her tattered old school books looked like, too!

Cake from 2006 Wilton's Book. Blocks out of fondant since I couldn't find any to purchase. Baby borrowed from a dear friend who received it on her shower cake. Lots of fun making flowers. Free hand writing is a nightmare!

1/2 sheet and double layer 6" round all french vanilla cake torted with fresh strawberries and strawberry glaze, all buttercream icing except the top of the graduation hat and diploma that is made with MMF (my fist try at MMF) and the tassel is made from cross stitching thread. This cake design was inspired from many graduation photos here on CC so thank you to all for the great ideas!

The book is an 11"x15" Chocolate Cake with Bavarian Cream Filling covered in buttercream then MMF. The base of the graduation cap is marble cake with buttercream then MMF. I tried to get the book to have an old world feel about it, but I think it just turned out looking old! LOL! All decorations are made of MMF fondant with luster dust highlights.

fondant covered "books" with a fondant covered cap and eagle. I didn't get the books as perfect as I wanted them and wish I had an airbrush to paint on the writing. I barely got the top of the grad cap dry in time...had to put it in the food dehydrator over night. Nothing like waiting till the last minute to make fondant decorations that need to dry:)

This was a tough one. My co-worker's wife got her first job as a librarian and he asked me to make a book cake for her, but did not want fondant (can't say I blame him). So I made the cover out of chocolate graham cracker sandwiched with chocolate syrup buttercream that were covered with ganache. Not the sleekist design, but they loved it. Cake is dark chocolate torted with ganache. The inscription is something he came up with (they call each other "snapper").

Exactly the kind of cake I don't like to do. But my church wanted it for a staff member moving out of state, so I did it with a smile (sort of). They wanted half chocolate, half vanilla, and the chocolate baked up taller than the vanilla so I pretended it was a book cake to make the unevenness look "on purpose".

I made this cake for the grade 8 class graduating from a french school. I had a lot of trouble with the cap but I got some great tips from the wonderfully helpful people here at CC and we are all happy with the outcome!

Wilton book pan, buttercream icing & fondant - black fondant was made from adding chocolate to wilton fondant. I believe this is from the Wilton 2005 or 2006 yearbook. It was tough - but fun! Used Wilton 1 cake mix book pan.

This design came from a Wilton book. I couldn't find the baby angel in my area so I ended up making it with rolled fondant. The pink half circles and uppercase letters are also rolled fondant. the rattles and blocks were store bought. The drop flowers are made of royal icing (since I never could make a nice Buttercream drop flower directly on a cake). The rest of the cake is decorated with Buttercream Icing.

All buttercream sheet cake. Hat is a bowl cake with a piece of matzoh covered in melted colored chocolate as the mortar board. A chocolate cream filled roll cake as the diploma, and pound cake books. The cup beside the cake holds breadsticks covered in chocolate to resemble pencils.

Ball is covered in fondant and painted with petal dust, blocks are covered in fondant, decorated in buttercream, Goodnight Moon is made from buttercream, "smash cake" is all buttercream. I must admit I had to upload so many views because I really did love how this whole thing turned out! The display with the real blocks and toys came out so cute.

This cake was alot of fun to make. A little tricky, but fun. My niece recently graduated college and I made this cake for you celebration party. She absolutely loved it which makes it all worth while. I used both fudge cake (raspberry filling) and French vailla cakes (bavarian cream filling) with buttercream frosting and covered in fondant.
