These cakes were for a 13th birthday party. All of the cakes are carved and then filled with chocolate ganache mousse. Each cake is covered in fondant and then has some fondant decorations. The N stands for the birthday girls name (Nicole). I made the base by hot glueing cardboard together so that the cakes can stand up and used black satin to cover the cardboard.

I got this idea from a Wilton yearbook. To make more servings I baked a one layer cake in an 11x15" pan and set the book on top of that layer (frosted between layers)

Made with Wilton's Book Pan. The ribbon bookmark I made was made from ribbons used from his parents' wedding... sentimental!

I made this cake for our head layreader at the church. She left texas and I thought a book cake would suit the occasion. Flowers and the band were silk. I STILL have trouble smoothing out the frosting!!!

This cake is for one of my best friend's son, so I really wanted it to be special. I'm not happy with my handwriting on this one, but I've done worse. LOL Cross is a FBCT that I drew free hand and traced over.

I just finished this one today for a children's class at church. Their challenge was to bring their scriptures with them every week to church, and this was their reward! The theme was to "feast upon the word of Christ." LOL! This was my first time making chocolate fondant and using gold lustre dust. The lettering was a little hard to get right, so I had to try a few different ways, but now I've got it!

This was for a baby shower with a book theme. I wasn't very happy with my lettering. The person who ordered it showed up early and was watching me finish! PRESSURE!

Stack of religious books is lemon cake with citron liqueur syrup covered in white and chocolate rolled fondant with a marzipan pencil and fondant notepad. Hebrew is written right to left so top two books (Bible and prayer book) are stacked to reflect that.

My first attempt at a book cake. I was pleased with the results and so was my friend! The cake itself was CMD's White Almond Sour Cream, iced with Almond Buttercream. Delicious! :)

This is the cake I made for my daughter's 6th birthday. She had a Harry Potter theme. It was my first attempt at using fondant. It didn't come out like the picture in the book I was referencing, but she adored it!

Third of 3 Bar Mitzvah anniversary cakes for my FIL. He had admired a stack of books cakes I did previously so I made this one for him. My favorite part of this cake was the edible rice paper "notebook page" with a note to "study your Torah portion for your Bar Mitzvah" Unfortuantely it must have looked too much like a real note because though there were strict instructions not to touch any of the cakes, the note disappeared after the photo & before the reception so my father-in-law never saw it. Darn!

I just finished this one. It's a book cake for an Optometrist. I know it's rather large for a book, but I have been wanting to try one for a while now so I thought I might as well do it since I had free reign with this cake. Cake is half vanilla/half chocolate, bc with edible image.

Cakes i did for a friend's bday. She just got her national Physician Assistant License. I know i did them poorly and the fondant is horribly ugly and shaped badly but i didn't have much time and it is the 3rd time only i've worked with MMF. But they were fun to do and she loved them so i guess that's what counts.

This was my first try at an open book. I learned so much in doing this one (what not to do also)! I did this one last month for a black history month celebration. The bottom cake is 22"x 15" made to sort of resemble an antique table top or desk top. The book was carved from a 1/2 sheet.

I did this cake for the book club I'm involved in. We were reading the James Frey book "A Million Little Pieces" and this is my replica of it. The actual book is next to the cake in the photo. Marble cake w/ buttercream

All decorations are edible, hand modelled. Book is ivory colored fondant with ivory luster dust. Top page edges were "ruffled" by inserting toothpicks underneath position of each ruffle while fondant was fresh and removed after fondant had crusted or firmed up.

I made this cake for our Pators birthday. It was inspired by the 1979 Wilton Yearbook pg.41 "Communion Blessings". I have not yet done corneli lace so I didn't put it on. I really liked the cross though , and that is why I picked it. I had my oldest stencil the outlines for my and then I went over them with a tip 6. I got good reviews and maybe more orders to come!

I did this for a friend of mine. She wanted it done in the memory of her father who just passed away Tuesday. I didn't enjoy doing this cake because I knew that it was for a death.
