This was a Thank-You cake for my daughter's school teacher, at the end of the school year. Black Icing is Cooked Chocolate Icing, Chalk and Duster is homemade fondant, and the rest is buttercream. The cake is a 2 tier Devil's Food Cake made from scratch.
Unfortunately, we have been having torrential rains and flooding here, and the weather is really humid. Hence ... cracks in the black icing which refused to set hard.
My daughter was really happy with it.

This cake was made for my cousin who is a 4th grade teacher. I'm not too pleased with the way the cake turned out. I made the green icing too thin so I added more powdered sugar to make it thicker...I should have used the mixer but I was in a hurry so I stirred it by hand. The next morning when I looked at the cake it had white spots where the sugar had small lumps in it. I was devastated. My cousin told me she thought I had added to white spots on purpose because her chalkboard in her class has spots.

My sister and I made this one together after she messed up a few on her own. I came over at 10pm and we finished it at 12:30am. We got punchy towards the end and thought the binary code as the border was a superb idea for her IS coworker.

This was a cake for a little girl turning two. Her room was decorated with the surfer girl line from Pottery Barn so I used that as inspiration for the bottom tier. The topper is a wave I made to look like a two from the side. Later I added a hand sculpted Dora and Backpack surfing on the back of the wave. Forgot to take a pic though. Maybe the customer will send one?

Made these for my daughter's pre-school graduation. I cut the tops off the cupcakes, turned them upside down and topped them with a royal blue BC-iced graham cracker. The names and tassles are yellow BC icing. Thanks for looking!

This was a 16th birthday for Stuart. He likes to surf and will be getting a car. The 3D car is from the Wilton 3D crusin pan and the other is a 2 layer sheet cake. The car was inspired from Debbie Brown's work her Naughty Cake book. The car is covered in fondant and the cake is buttercream icing.

Made this huge 53 cupcake cake for the principle at my son's pre-school. he was the principle for my daughters Christian School last year but they decided after 27 years to close down and just do the preschool. He has decided to move on and he will be missed. This thing was huge and I had to use part of a vacuume box for the board. Almost made it too big to fit out the door, LOL.

I made this cake for my little brother who just turned 13. He loves board games and his party was a board game party. This cake ended up being 17 inches by 17 inches. He goes to a private Catholic school and the mascot is the mustang so I incorporated that into the cake. The dice on the top of the cake are sugar cubes. The houses and hotels are fondant. The money is from one of the games that he had at the party.

This was inspired by Colette Peters Christmas Cake pictured on the cover of American Cake Decorating Nov/Dec 1995 issue. This cake is the Wilton petal pan. The cakes rest on a fondant covered board and I used gumpaste poinsettie ribbon flowers with bow loops. Thanks for looking and Merry Christmas!

Decorated in RI. I made a bunch of these as gifts for a group of teachers for a customer. Missing in the pic are the school buses, science lab equipment, flowers, etc but the idea was really nice. I've got to work on getting my books neater!!

I was asked to do a "hip hop" cake for a little girl that was turning 10. She let me do whatever I wanted as long as it had a hat on top. So after some research, I found out that hip hop is all about music. It didn't turn out exactly and I had hoped, but she liked it! Thanks to DianaMarieMTV, DannysmommyVal, and all the other CC members who gave me much needed advice!

This is the sheet cake that I talked about in the cake disasters area called Green Rivers. It did not do the bleeding until after I had to put it in the freezer (now I know that did not need to) and then brought it back out and it was thawing out.
I work at a computer helpdesk so the cake is supposed to look like a piece of circuit board.
