This is one of those cakes that gave us grief, nothing went right... including the colour, I had hoped for a dusty pink and ended up with a salmon colour. Not even the photo's would come out the way I wanted.... I will post a second angle of the cake...

This was my mother's 43rd B-day cake. And my first one for other people. It is Chocolate fudge cake with chocolate chips. Raspberry mousse filling and chocolate buttercream frosting. The roses are also a first for me and also made out of BC.

alternating layers of chocolate & mocha cake covered in fondant. tried to duplicate design on ribbon. i was supposed to put a fondant bow as cake topper, but wasn't too successful, so i had to replace it with a sheer fabric bow. cake size: 12,10,8,6

For my little girl's 1st birthday back in September. Bottom, top layers & smash cake - Key Lime cake with Cream Cheese-Key Lime buttercream filling...middle layer - French Vanilla cake with Cream Cheese-Strawberry buttercream filling. All are frosted with Cream Cheese Buttercream. The desired effect was that the inside was pink & green just like the outside of the cake. Flowers & initial topper are fondant, grass and stems of flowers are buttercream. The cake matched her dress...this was so much fun!!

this was my first BC done with the papertowel method. Cake was pink with Cherry filling. I ran out of ideas for a topper, the banner is made from Chocolate. The only spec for this cake was to make it pink... i hated the color it turned out and couldnt bare delivering it like that so i had to add the white to it. the pink looked like Pepto Bismal... but was assured it tasted fabulous!

This was so much fun to do and I only hope i get to expand on it. I took ideas from so many others on this site, thanks to you all you know who you are. This is simple white cake with creamcheese filing (added colorful choc chips for color). MMF over cake and Wilton fondant tassles and button, the crown is made with white chocolate and painted with Orchid Luster. The little girl was tickled "pink" when i delivered it!

This was for a lady who wanted half of the cake chocolate and half white - the adults wanted chocolate, but the kids wouldn't eat it, so they had to have vanilla - right down to the frosting! So I had to come up with a way to make half chocolate, half vanilla, and still have it come out looking pretty!
It's buttercream with gumpaste roses. Thanks for looking!

No special occassion just wanted to practice. Unfortunately I wasn't feeling well and didn't do all that I wanted to do to it. I almost didn't post it but I figured I may as well since I made it and it wasn't chocolate.

This is my first "paid" cake :-) Made for a frirend's daughter turning 13. She loves horses and pastel pink so I thought I'd combine both themes. Flowers, horse shoe and keepsake base are gumpaste. I couldn't find a horse mold but luckily I ran across this little plaster pony. It was all white so I painted it. The grass on top is royal icing so she can take the top plate home for keepsake. The cake is chocolate with chocolate ganache, Cover with fondant and decorated with french buttercream.

I made this cake for my daughter's first birthday- making a tiered/stacked cake with the top tier just for her! Buttercream icing- flowers are made with royal icing. This was my first attempt at anything like this- I'm only in Course 2 of Wilton Cake Decorating classes!! Layers were 10", 8" and the smash cake was a 5" cake.

I got this idea from a photo in the gallery. I made it for my daughter's 2nd birthday and she loved it! The bottom layer is chocolate and the top layer is white cake all with BC icing. I had a lot of fun decorating this. I love to use the cornelli lace technique.

This is a little cake (about 6" square) that I put together for a good friend's birthday. White cake, chocolate buttercream and TONS of fondant. The design is a take off of a Bronwen Weber cake I saw in one of my decorating magazines. Sides of the pot were painted with gel colors mixed with pearl dust and alcohol. The flowers were airbrushed with Super Pearl.

This was a last minute cake. I had very little notice. They wanted it to feed a lot of people. I made a 2 layer 9 X 13 sheet cake and made a single layer Care Bear cake and just put it on top. The width and height is pretty much the same. I was having a really bad day! so many problems. I thought I would end up giving it to them for free. But it came out ok in the end. They were thrilled! I guess that's all that matters.

This was my very first attempt at using MMF and it turned out pretty good. I learned to roll it thinner next time and to make it more pliable, but this one turned out better than I thought.

I made this cake for a friend at work. She wanted a Popples or a Piglet. Of course, the Piglet seemed the easiest. I cut Piglet out of a round cake and placed him on a sheet cake and iced him in buttercream. My friend loved it!!!

My MIL asked me to make a cake for her mom's 80th birthday. It's a doctored white cake with buttercream filliing (haven't really ventured out into the fillings yet). One lesson learned: This was too much cake! But it's nice to have a pic for my portfolio anyway so...
This is also the first cake I've made for someone else besides me ;) I almost lost the top tier this morning. I noticed it started toppling over. That's why there is two layers of piping around the top tier to hide the board underneath

This one was REALLY fun after the disasterous Snare Drum I did yesterday (until 3:30am today). It's scratch white cake with all buttercream. I borrowed the idea from Cinico...thanks to you for the inspiration!

Experimenting with different things here. I did the letters and gifts with candy molds, flowers in royal icing, the rest in buttercream. Everything that could have gone wrong on this cake did...the list is too long to mention. BUT....I learned how to roll with the punches and cover mistakes. The design went in a completely different direction than planned, but overall I am pleased with the results...Constructive criticism is always welcome and appreciated...what do you think?

Based on design from another cc'er. Loved the frogs and they were so easy to make. The party theme was frogs and pink...just like the child's nursery. Made a coordinating smash cake with tiny chocolate molded green frogs too. Cake is iced in BC with fondant accents. Number is made from gumpaste. Name and bows are fondant.
