I just finished this one today for a children's class at church. Their challenge was to bring their scriptures with them every week to church, and this was their reward! The theme was to "feast upon the word of Christ." LOL! This was my first time making chocolate fondant and using gold lustre dust. The lettering was a little hard to get right, so I had to try a few different ways, but now I've got it!

8" & 6" buttercream frosting with fondant decorations. Bible and Cross are made using a foam and sticking fondant (with water) to it. Tip: when making the angels use a very long candy stick if not they will fall, that's why they are resting on the cake base.

This was from a Wilton book. The baby is the great-nephew of Rev. Jerry Falwell and when I saw this cake I knew it was perfect for the family. They loved it and the mom-to-be cried when she saw it.

I did this for a friend of mine. She wanted it done in the memory of her father who just passed away Tuesday. I didn't enjoy doing this cake because I knew that it was for a death.

This was for my husband's birthday. He is the associate pastor at our church and so I thought this was appropiate. Thanks missjane for the inspiration. It is a lemon ginger cream cheese pound cake with MMF book cover. I wanted the old torn pages look so BC pages and brushed gold luster dust into them. I was going to do a tiered cake and ran out of time. My biggest problem, time management. Everyone thought it was porcelain, one of the kids stuck his finger in it and said "I had to see if it was weal."

This was my first attempt at an open book cake. It was donated for a church fundraiser. I was not too pleased with the way it turned out but the people at the church liked it. After I get my nerves up...I think I will try again.

1/2 sheet cake, all buttercream. Done for a confirmation event. The design is from the confirmation certificate. It was not easy writing the words small. It was also for boys and girls, so I didn't want it to have a flowery border or flowery accents.

I made this bible cake for my son's youth bake sale. It is white cake with buttercream icing. I did the paper towel indentions on it, can't see it too well on the picture. I tried to make it the same size as a regular bible.

I made this Bible cake for my friend's daughter for her 1st Communion with Wilton's large book pan. I felt honored that she trusted me to make the cake. One side is yellow, the other side is devil's food, buttercream icing. Roses, cross and bookmark are gumpaste. Pearls are edible, made with MMF.

This was my first time doing a Book Cake. It was fun but I think I need a rest from them for a while. Fondant gave me trouble so I had to cover it with BC. But thanks for looking.

Cake I made for a close friend who graduated from Seminary. The Bible is a lemon pound cake iced with raspberry flavoured buttercream icing and then covered in MMF. The hat is a mini wonder pan with a cardboard square covered in MMF. The sheet cake is a white chocolate cake torted with raspberry whipped filling and iced in raspberry buttercream.

A stack of books I made to celebrate our school principals 40 years of service. I made 7 half-sheet cakes and an open book cake to go with this one. I had never done that much at one time so of course I ran out of time at this end! This was fun though. I learned a lot. Thanks to all of you that have posted book cakes here.

This was my first paid cake. It's for a co-worker's pastor at her church. Not my favorite piece of work but the customer liked it. It's all buttercream and I used gold lustre dust on the "pages"

Exactly the kind of cake I don't like to do. But my church wanted it for a staff member moving out of state, so I did it with a smile (sort of). They wanted half chocolate, half vanilla, and the chocolate baked up taller than the vanilla so I pretended it was a book cake to make the unevenness look "on purpose".

The rounds are 12, 9 and 5; the Bible is an 11x15x2 sheet w/a 'v' cut out of the middle to form the Bible. Iced in buttercream. Artificial flowers provided by the bride - all 6 callas and 4 roses! I had to add more silk & b'cream piped roses and even a few gp callas for this to look even somewhat decent:(

Victorious David! My final cake had 5 smooth stones (pistacio nuts) sitting at his feet. Pound Cake & Butter Cream. You should have seen the 9 1/2 foot Goliath that stood in our living room (paper mache)!

This was a Cake I made for my Pastors 55th Birthday. I had wanted to do more with it...and make it look like a bible, but was in a it got what it got LOL.
I used my 1/2 sheet cake pan, and baked 2 of them and placed them side by side, then baked a Cake in my Cross pan... and placed on top of the one on the Left.

This is a favorite cake for christenings and first communions. Made using Wilton book pan and roses for cross. For a first communion I usually add a string of rosary beads around the name.

This is a cake I made for my Pastor. It is a Replica (from my memory)of one of her shoes. I had to repair the shoe, but other than that I was pleased. Quadruple chocolate, chocolate cake, w/ chc. b/c, w. chc. ganache, w/ chc. MMF. I had a blast making the shoe.

White sour cream cake for the bottom cake iced in buttercream, and the bible is a spice cake iced in buttercream with fondant decorations. Pages painted with gold lustre dust.
This was ordered by a man who was attending a party for a boy who was leaving on a mission for his church.

Thanks for looking!

This Bible cake is actually a tiramisu; a light genoise brushed with an espresso syrup and filled with a tiramisu filling made from marscapone, marsala and chocolate. It features hand modeled white chocolate lambs and sugar flowers.
