This was made for my son's 3rd birthday and inspired by a cake I saw on here.
My son is obsessed with tools and Home Depot (hence the orange theme).
The belt is made with fondant and the tools are chocolate made from a mold and painted using luster dust. I had a heck of a time getting the silver to look as solid as ones I've seen on here, but after a while, as I added more, it started pulling it off. My husband said it just made the tools look rusty, so we'll go with that! :)

This is a chocolate cake with MMF black belt around it. It was made for my godson who just earned his first degree black belt at the age of 11. He worked very hard for this. My daughter tells me that the symbol on the top is not done properly. My mistake. I am sure that he won't care.

Butter cake with both white choc. truffle and rasp. filling. BC icing. All other decorations are fondant. Bandana is detailed with white royal icing and black food markers. Belt buckle was made in a silicone mold I made. There are round fondant decorations around the back of the belt as well. Wish I would have placed the 2nd horseshoe where it would have photographed better. Idea to do belt came from a wedding cake in ACD email (ICES show cake). Name is spelled with "rope".

I made this cake for my 5 year old nephew for getting is green belt in TaeKwon Do. It is a 6" chocolate cake with buttercream icing. The little guy and the belt across the cake are fondant. I was trying to make it look like he was doing a karate chop, but it kind of looks like a pastor blessing the congregation!!! I guess I need to work on that!

Nursery was in vintage western, so this is what I came up with for the shower. Used the embossed pleather decorator fabric to get detail on the belt border... cheapest impression mat ever! Topper (wagon) was actually a birdhouse that can be used in the nursery or hung outside. Diapers made out of felt. Boots are scrapbook stickers. Everything else is edible.

This was a last minute wedding cake order I had this weekend. Kahluha fudge cake with chocolate buttercream filling, covered in fondant. Bottom tier is to look like cowhide, middle tier has a belt and replica of groom's belt buckle, and top tier is tooled leather with their monogram. Rope, knots, and buckle made from fondant.

This is an 8" white cake w/ strawberry flavored BC and magenta MMF to cover. All the decorations were done in fondant including the "J". That was wilton fondant cut out using a pattern and then left to dry for several days. I painted it in Nu Silver luster and superglued real crystals on to it. The buckle also had real crystals on it.
All I had to go off of was that the daughter liked pink and "bling" and that she was turning 25. So I thought this embodied that well with an element of sophistication.

Cake designed after a rodeo belt buckle, for a girl turning 16. She's a barrel racer, so we incorporated that into the design. All done in buttercream, except some of the details in fondant (painted w/ gold), airbrushed buckle in silver.

This is (yet another) cake for a black belt ceremony at my martial arts studio. One of the students testing selected this image because she thought it looked sort of like her. (And one of the other students testing is a teenage boy with brown hair, like the "victim".) I transfered the image to the cake using piping gel, and filled with BC. Cake is a 9 X 13 WASC with crusting BC. I had a lot of fun making this one.

WWE championship belt cake made for Wrestlemania 23 party! Fondant plaques are hand painted/sculpted. This cake came together at the last minute, when DH told me I could make a Wrestlemania cake and that he wanted John Cena's belt. I made it all with stuff I had on hand...with better planning, I think it could have been better, but overall I was really pleased with the way it turned out.

The cowboy hat is covered in fondant and the bottom cake is frosted in buttercream. The cowboy boot, leather belt, and buckle are hand molded out of fondant, then painted with food coloring. The buckle has an impression of stars and dots, then painted with bronze luster dust. Everything was made the size to "fit" the birthday boy.

Just playing with some new toys on left-over cake. The bow and belt don't have much to do with each other, or the flowers, but I was just trying things I've never done before. Had a lot of fun anyway!

There is not ONE thing I like about this cake. It is WASC with BC icing and chocolate karate silhouettes. The reason for orange and black: The boy this was for just recently earned his orange/black belt. I had terrible trouble with the BC (it is rainy and humid here, and it was not cooperating at all). Definitely have no fond feelings for this cake...and glad it is gone! The party goers all said it was delicious, though. Guess that is the silver lining to this mess? LOL!!

I blew up a copy of a photo of this guy's head and a photo of his school patch. I cut out the head and patch and laminated them . I placed the head on the cake and drew the body. I filled in with star tip and placed the patch on the uniform. The confetti was easy with tip 3.

Birthday Cake for my husband's best friend. They are both obsessed with the WWE, so I made a World Title Belt. The cake is 1/2 yellow & 1/2 chocolate with buttercream icing. The Belt is chocolate clay and fondant. I made several belts because the clay was drying out on me. Next time I'm buying black fondant. The kids liked the chocolate belt. It was a big hit.

Well, here it is. I will be putting together the "how to" soon. I was disappointed but it turned out ok. Vanilla cake with buttercream and fondant and Kincaellan's jewels. Belt buckle is gumpaste painted with luster dust and alcohol. Cake is for a 50th surprise birthday party for a co-worker that wanted a pink cowboy hat with rhinestones. Note to self ~ make sure you know where all of your required tools are before beginning a project!

This is for my husband's boss. It's a 9x13 butter pecan and amaretto cake carved for the body shape. The icing is amaretto BC and covered in MMF. The black belt is black satin ice. I owe everything to psurrette for this design. I was looking for something perfect and this fit the bill.

4 tier cake iced in chocolate buttercream. The base is wrapped in acutal used rope. The groom is a team roper. I tea stained the lace that I wrapped around each tier. The top layer is supported by pillars that are hidden inside each boot. The boots were pencil holders that my bride found and we had to drill holes in the bottom of each to be able to get the pillars through. Wrapped around the bottom tier is an acutal belt. I was trilled with the final result!!!

This was a challenge! I have stressed over this for a couple of months. I made a mold for the buckle, found some tooled fabric at Hobby Lobby and i rolled my fondant over it to make impressions and then dusted with black dust to bring out detail. Can't see it well in the picture. It was a fun one, but glad it's done!
