The feet and surfboard are fondant - the "gummy shoes" in the right size were a serendipitious last minute find.

This idea came from a little Betty Crocker dessert idea book. I think it turned out really cute! I made it for a silent auction to raise money for a nearby college. The "sand" was made out of brown sugar.

I copied the color and photo of a little girl's beach birthday party invitation. Thanks to MaddieCakes I got the idea of how to do it with the brown sugar as sand and the fruit strips for the straps. I was happy how it came out. This is my "practice" cake for the real one due on May 6th.

This is just a simple yellow cake torted with buttercream. The lady that requested this just told me they were having a luau themed anniversary party, and that they were know as the Two Bears, and would like that incorporated into it. I sprayed the waves with the food coloring spray, chocolate seashells, brown sugar sand, and Kandy Klay flowers. The palm tree is a breadstick dipped in chocolate with Kandy Klay leaves. I hope she likes it!

2 varieties of starfish for the client to choose her favourite. The rough one is just done with stiffer icing, filled in in one motion. The second is runnier royal icing.

White almond sour cream cake. Made a template from a new pair of size 9 flip flops and then traced onto a 11x15 cake. Used the cake that was left to grind up in the food processor for the sand (mixed with glitter). Shells are chocolate. Straps are a mix of fondant and gum-tex dried in shape over paper towels.

White cake w/Buttercream frosting w/raw sugar added for sand - realized later that brown sugar would have worked. :(
This was for a beach theme baby shower.

I tried decorating these the first time at 4 in the morning and I couldn't get them right. I finally had to go to bed and try again the next morning. lol

This was a spur of the moment cake for an organization I donate cakes to. July birthdays. Orange Creamsicle cake with orange cream cheese filling, iced in buttercream. I didn't think it was too bad for a first attempt at "water".

The wedding invitation had a bride and a groom building a sandcastle, so when I was asked to do the bridal shower cake, I was inspired! :) Bride and Groom are from the Celebrate with Fondant book from Wilton. Sandcastle mold is from Williams-Sonoma. Sand is crushed vanilla wafers and raw sugar. Seashells are white chocolate brushed with luster dust

This cake was the first cake that a young girl that helps me with cake decorating birthday parties made with only verbal direction from me. She's 16. The beach towels and beach ball are fondant that is decorated with food color pens. I think she did an awsome job.

Vanilla cake with a chocolate cake beach ball. Covered with BC. This little girl was 2 years old and the mother had plates that looked like beach balls, so I made the cake 3-D.

This is an edible image of one of my favorite wedding pics that I decided to put on a Hummingbird flavor, three layer cake for our reception at home. It was really impressive in it's size (hard to see how tall it really was) and it was a big hit! (Yep, this is me and my new hubby! Still happy after 56 days!) :o)

When my boss asked me to do a beach theme cake for his wife, it was going to be on a 1/2 sheet. I had already made the hat and sandals when he asked me to make it an anniversary cake as well. Since the anniversary theme was pearls, I was able to tie them in together. This was a really fun cake and I am happy with the way it turned out.

This was my first big cake to set up and finish on site! I was a nervous wreck. Thankfully it was for a friends mother's birthday. They loved it, and I have decided that is why we do it, not for the money, but for the smile on their faces. Thanks for all the wonderful ideas from this site for the creation.
