This was a cake I did for my daughters baptism reception. This was only the second time I had ever decorated a cake I'm happy to say that I've gotten much better at it.

Made with Wilton's Book Pan. The ribbon bookmark I made was made from ribbons used from his parents' wedding... sentimental!

This cake was done in buttercream. It was actually for the funeral of a family member, but would make a lovely baptism or communion cake as well. I used Wilton's cross pan and accented the base cake (12x18) with drop strings and drop flowers.

Everything is BC including the cross. To make the cross I used a cross shaped cookie cutter, filled it with BC and froze it. I was surprised how easily the icing came out of the mold. I then smoothed the edges with my finger while it was still frozen. I was very happy how this one turned out.

This cake was made for a celebration welcoming our new priest and blessing our new rectory. Could also be done for any religious occasion, baptisms, etc. The 'stucco' effect was acheived by first icing the cake in buttercream and allowing it to crust, then thinning out some buttercream with water until it had a thin consistency and then I patted it onto the cake with a paper towel scrunched up.

This is a heart shaped italian cream cake with crusting cream cheese icing. I need to practice the icing again, didn't want to crust very much for me.

I made this for my nephew's baptism this past weekend. Cake is Chocolate with Oreo cookie filling (yummy!). Fondant covered with fondant decorations. Fondant pearls were handmade (took forever!) and rolled in pearl dust. Painted superpearl dust on cross sections and medallion for added interest. Plain and simple! Thanks for looking :)

This was my first time using the Wilton cross pan. It is the hardest cake I have ever had to ice. The beveled edges are really a challnge. It was for my second cousins baptism.

10" & 6" French Vanilla cakes with chocolate raspberry filling, iced in buttercream. Cross is royal icing and poem is on rice paper, flowers are dried fondant. Thank you to LaCakeria for the inspiration for this one, the mom loved yours so this is my version of it.

This was my first baptism/cross cake. I used a 11x15 sheet cake (yellow with lemon curd filling). Vanilla buttercream with buttercream roses. I got the design idea from this site (Thank you so much!). I even got another order for this same cake from someone attending the baptism.

This cake was huge! Cut from an 11 x 13 cake, four layers of buttermilk chocolate cake, two layers of meringue buttercream and one layer of bavarian creme (delicious recipe from this site). This was my first time making a fondant bow. Thanks to MelC for the tips on using luster dust.

This is my first time doing a baptism cake. It was for a baby girl, but they had no specific requests on the design & it being done the day after Thanksigiving I was pretty clueless on the design myself.. I took the message from the baptism invitation & included that on the cake.
