My futur brother-in-law asked me to make a cake to look like the Death Star from Star Wars for his grooms cake. This is my first practice attempt at making this cake. Using the Sports Ball cake pan for the shape, I made a chocolate strawberry cake and flavored the icing strawberry as well.

I took this idea from Debbie Brown's 50 Easy Party Cakes. I now wish I had taken the time to make the yarn out of mmf but the effect is still there:) This is a surprise cake for my friend. Her husband and herself come home from their honeymoon tomorrow and I know she's been missing her kitty while she's gone! She loves cats!!

This is from the Wilton First and Ten football pan. It's a copy of a real Gilbert rugby ball in their signature blue and green trim over white. I wrote "rugby" on it because I didn't want people in class (Wilton Course I) calling it a football.

This was an 11x15 single layer sheet cake with the Wilton "sports ball" pan bowling ball. The cakes were iced and decorated with buttercream. The bowling pins were made of sugar cookies and iced with poured cookie icing.

Vanilla cake with a chocolate cake beach ball. Covered with BC. This little girl was 2 years old and the mother had plates that looked like beach balls, so I made the cake 3-D.

This is a cake that I made for my sister's 20th birthday. It is a white cake with buttercream icing. My inspiration for the design was from a patterened Easter egg on a plastic bucket I had laying around the house. I have began to look in the strangest places for cute patterns and designs that I can duplicate onto a cake. She loved her cake. The border is made of smal cake balls. They are her favorite. I was rushed to do them, and would have rather made them more colorful, but just ran out of time.

This cake was made with chocolate fudge cake, filled with peanut butter filling (recipe from CC!) and iced in chocolate ganache butter cream. Decorations were fresh yellow daisies and cake balls. The cake balls were chocolate cake with peanut butter dipped in dark chocolate and french vanilla cake with fresh raspberry dipped in white chocolate.

I made this "pro bono" for the AF Ball this year. I almost cried, nobody ate it. It was made to feed over 200 people and I think there were 5 pieces missing. They did the cake cutting ceremony, but for some reason, didn't put plates and forks out, so nobody ate it. My b/f took the two top pieces to work and everyone loved him for it!! Oh well.

I made this for my SIL's baby shower. Used a standard sheet pan and trimmed half of the Wilton ball pan. Fondant body and dress. Cake crumbs for hair. I had already made 2 of these years before. Even won 2 blue ribbons in a mother’s day amateur cake decorating contest, though there weren't many entrees, lol.

I got this idea from Wilton's 2006 Yearbook. I used half of the Sports Ball for the body and a mini ball for the head. All of the details (face and legs) are candy. The cake is one of the CMD ones- chocolate with mayo. The icing is buttercream (green) and chocolate buttercream (black).

So much so...she has brought in video of him talking in his sleep about playing w/balls. He was saying..."I pay ball..I tick ball....tetch ball" TOO CUTE!!! So we figure he will keep her busy!! Everyone also brought a ball...or two to go home with!! She had over 50 balls by the end of the day!!!

She LOVED it!! And I'm sure her son was in heaven!!!

I made this for the execs and staff of our local NBA and WNBA. The sheet cake is chocolate on one side and yellow on the other (I actually poured each batter on one end of the sheet pan and let them meld together in the middle as it baked) and the basketball is a yellow cake. It is iced in buttercream with the jerseys being made of fondant.

I did this cake for my daughter's tball banquet. I made a 14X14 square and then used the t-shirt pan on top. Then I made the square cake look like the ball field. The kids loved it.

These are mini cupcakes I made to go along with the soccer ball for my daughter's end of the season party. They are iced with white or green buttercream. The tops are decorated with candy melt shaped either like a trophy or a soccer ball. I planned to do all trophies but ran out of white icing and I thought the soccer balls looked better on those. The trophies were peanut butter flavored candy melts YUMMY!

I posted this pic with the wrong description so here is the right one! I used the Wilton ball pan for the cake and just covered that in stars. Jojo and his lion friend Goliath are molded from gumpaste and then handpainted.

This is a soccer ball made from the Sports Ball pan, sitting on a 9x13 sheet cake. It's the first cake I've made using the ball pan, and it was fun to do!
