A BIG thank you to SOCAKE. This order was referred to me by her as she was fully booked, how nice was that! Christening cake was the request, showed her SOCAKES bootie cake which she loved.. a few variations and hey presto here it is, not as polished though. All inspiration and credit to SOCAKE. Cake is dark choc mud cake (thanks nati) covered with fondant. Gumpaste & royal accents.

Just put this together. Not incredibly happy with it. Do not like the yellow base color with the pink.

This is one of two cakes for a surprise baby shower for a teacher at my boys' school. It's covered in a MMF/rolled buttercream combo. It was good to work with but I'm not sure I like the shinyness. It was much easier than I thought it would be to cover the head with fondant. I used an embosser to make a diamond pattern on the blanket and cut a fringe on the blanket. There's a pink MMF bow on her head. I painted on the face details with gel colors.

These are the 2 figurines I made at the Planet Cake (Sydney, australia) Figurine course a couple of weeks ago. I absolutely adored doing the course - it was so much fun and so informative.

This is marble cake with BC icing. The moon and stars are fondant. I got this idea from this website and changed it a bit. This is the first time I used fondant outside of the Wilton classes I took. I've always be intimitated by fondant, but found it was pretty easy to work with. Although, the shapes were very easy to do (not a lot of manipulation).

Here's a fun one. The clues I was given to work with were: baby pink, mint green, ribbons, flowers, garden, and ducks. Ducks were particularly special to the mother-to-be. So this is how I incorporated everything, with some help from the great folks in the forums. It's all MMF with tinted piping gel for the water. Had a ton of fun with it!

I have been dying to make a dress cake and was excited when I got an order for a baby girl's baptism cake. I suggested this type of cake to the customer (even though I had never made one before) and showed her some pictures of similar cakes. She loved the idea, and the pressure was on! It took me just about all day to make, but I was pleased (and relieved) with the results. Cake was cut out of a sheet cake and frosted with buttercream icing. Thanks to those who provided help through the "How Do I" forum!

This is now my most favorite cake of mine! The bottom and top tiers are pink gingham, with fondant hanging stars and fondant booties. The booties were a big hit at the shower. I wrote the date, 7-30-06, on the side of one of the booties. Also white clouds and a sleeping baby on top. Oh, and the verse around the middle cake matched the invititations, "Tiny Yawns & Sleepy Sighs....Nursery Rhymes & Lullabies...."
