This cake I made for a celebration party after the Redsox won the world series. Big hit with the Redsox fans - not so much with the yankee fans

I did this one yesterday morning (Sunday)...had a hard time trying to figure out what I was going to do. I was out of ideas but I did have my four colors made up and just decided to wing it. The plane was traced on by punching holes in the picture and placing it on the cake. I then dusted cocoa powder over the holes to get the outline to show up clearly. Love the bright colors but not the overall design. Turned out to be the best tasting cake I've made to date, though!

This is a picture of my son Ethan's 6th birthday cake. We had an army theme, so I thought it would be fun to make my own cake. I bought a pack of soldier at Wal-Mart for 2 dollars to decorate the cake. I used crushed graham crackers for the dirt. It was really fun to make.

This cake was made for the head guy in charge of restoring airplanes at our local flight museum. I made an airplane mold for the little airplanes on the cake (that was the big hit). Then created the scene of the airport (all in chocolate) to the side. Everyone loved all the planes and couldn't believe they were chcoclate

This is for a friends 30th birthday. They all when skydiving and I offered to make a cake to commemorate the occasion. The whole this is buttercream except the sky which is satin icing and the decorations which I bought or made. The parachute is paper mache.

This was a vanilla cake with vanilla pudding filling. It was made for a friend's son who flys on C130s and was turning 27. The toothpick later held a flag, but I didn't get a picture of that.

A birthday cake I made for a coworker who is mad about planes. Double layer chocolate soaked in sweet grape wine filled with chocolate buttercream with ground glace cherries. Covered with a thin layer of choc buttercream and iced in fondant.

This is a total rip off from Boween! I work for an airline and had a friend transferring to another city (named Jason, which is why I named the airplane after him!). I wasn't sure what to do for a cake and I found Boween's cake in the Retirement section and loved it! She was nice enough to give some tips and ideas about how she did it. I certainly can't take credit for the design - I just tried to recreate it the best I could. It was a HUGE hit!

I've been wanting to try a "book" cake. I did this one as a 12x18x2 chocolate cake with a fonant book cover-"toy" plane, and baby. I used tootsie rolls to make the airplane on the fondant plaque. Very fun--

I made this cake to look like a quilt that the baby had (bottom tier) and the top tier looks like another blanket the baby was getting at the shower. Buttercream on all with devil's food and white cake.

I used an airplane pan for this as a guide anyway...the pan was really tiny so I had to double it up (stack 2 cakes) and then the wings and tail broke off on me....so the pan didn't end up being much help!!

But think it turned out ok. The colors and design of the plane came from another site.
TFL!

This cake was the easiest hard cake I've made. My customer insisted on whipped cream icing even though I had never made it before. I should have had a test batch but didn't have time. I ended up making butter out of the cream and had to run to ACMoore and pick up Wilton's Vanilla Whipped Icing at the last minute. But all in all I'm very happy with the way it turned out. Enjoy!

Fondant planes with "Oh Boy" banner for my very good friend's baby shower. She wanted a blue airplane cake and let me do the rest.... Thanks to inspiration from cakes by alison on this site.

This cake was made to replicate the nursery theme for the new baby. It is iced smooth with buttercream. I did a horizontal flip to make the image backwards then printed the design off of the computer . Then, using piping gel and tip 2, I outlined the design on the piece of paper. I then inverted the paper onto the cake. Once that was done, I decorated the design on the cake.

This is my first tiered cake! The new parents are both airline pilots, and so the theme was airplanes. The cake was chocolate with raspberry filling, and a buttercream frosting. The airplanes on the cake are butter cookies. All inspiration came from this site, so thanks to all the talented bakers who unknowingly helped me!

This is a carrot cake with bc icing. I followed the directions that you can get on the Wilton website. The cross pan was used for the airplane. The recipient was thrilled with it!

Ok I admit this is not a great looking cake. I thought it was going to be super easy. But I have a neck injury that sometimes causes my hands to shake and of course tonight was one of those nights. I may just have to start over and do another one :-(

Birthday cake for my friends' daughter who likes airplanes. Her grandmother found the airplane candleholders. There is a 4th one that I attached to a bamboo skewer with floral clay. I'll add that one at the party tomorrow.

This cake was a last minute order and I had a hard time with the design which I am not happy with, and with the fondant drying. I only had two days and when I went to assemble the airplane some of the pieces were not dry enough. I spent so much time trying to get the plane to stay together that it was to late to do much with the rest of the cake.Oh well. Hopefully I will learn tell people no when there isn't enough time but I doubt it. I always tell people I can do it and then figure out how later.

This is a sour cream white cake from the CMD which is iced in BC. Airplane and banner are chocolate transfers, both of which broke! I think I'll stick to the FBCTs!

Almond NFSC with Wilton RI. Made 40 of these for a baby shower using the P-51 cutter from kitchen gifts... broke another 18. Warning, this cutter makes SUPER delicate cookies.

This is a chocolate transfer. I made it for my husband to take to work where he is an engineer that works on this plane. It is for his birthday, but he never wants anyone to know it is his b-day so he didn't want any writing on it. It is coconut supreme with the enhanced recipe with the French Vanilla Coffeemate. BC icing with the blue spray paint from Wilton on it.
