this I made for a lady last saturday. A carrotcake with walnuts and pineapple/orange cheesecream. Covered with fondant. Some of the decoration is made by pastilage. I got the order just two days before the delivery, so this was the best I could do in that short time.

This is a chocolate cake that has a "hill" (also chocolate cake) and a hot tub (made of vanilla cake). The people/dog are made of fondant and the hot tub water is piping gel and the bubbles are meringue. I airbrushed the cake too.

This is a fun cake that I did for my mom who was dreading the big 5-0. I knew I didn't want to do a black Over the Hill cake so this is what I came up with. It is a choclate and white cake. Buttercream icing and fondant letters and numbers. She loved it.

I took 3 or 4 cakes from this site, and made my own design. Thanks for all of the ideas. I did this along with my other 3 cakes and 48 cupcakes that weekend. I was busy, but praise the Lord for the business. I bought the kit from Wal-Mart as I haven't tried the sculpting thing yet. The entire cake is piped in 16 stars. The creek is from blue bc and piping gel. The customer was pleased.

Here is my version of the Speed Limit Cake. It is Chocolate with Buttercream Icing. After I did the sides, I went in a little and wrote "***Over The Hill***" all the way around. The sides that you can not see, say ***50*** all the way around. It was fun!!

I was asked to create a cake fro a co-worker's Mom. She said that she liek 50's music. The rest was all creation. I made everything from fondant except the album cover which i printed on photo paper, folded and glued to look like album covers. This cake was such a joy to see come together. Needless to say my co-workers Mom was very pleased. she wondered how I knew she used to lay the floor and listen to records

This was the 50s style cake that I was getting ideas for a few months ago. I really enjoyed doing this one. Everyrhing is edible except for the matchbox cars in the middle and the ribbons on the top tier (and of course the pillars). The cake is Butterscotch Spice and the Icing is Buttercream. All the 50's items are molded chocolate - some are painted with more molded chocolate to add a little color to the cake.

The client want an elegant 70s theme cake for a surprise 50th birthday. She told me daisys, and small 50s on the side. This is what I came up with. She only wanted buttercream, but I had to add some fondant decoration. So I mad e a 50 out of fondant and luster dusted it in violet. Marble cake with buttercream filling.

I actually got this idea by combining a couple of cakes I saw on this site. They don't look as good as the ones that I have seen, but it was a really fun cake to make. I made this as a surprise for my boss' 50th birthday. We thought a 50's theme would be fun!

This was for a teacher that turned 50 this year, (she doesn't look at day over 35!) and it just so happens that Play-Doh turns 50 this year as well. So trying to come up with a theme that wasn't all gloom and doom (ie grim reaper, over the hill etc) I went with this. What a blast! The decorations are all MMF, the play-doh container is cake covered with MMF and rice paper colored with EI markers. The container didn't turn out quite as good as I wanted it to unfortunately. Oh Well, still looks great! :)

This was a cake I did for my boss' 50th b-day. We did a whole disco theme surprise party for him. So nothing more suiting than cropping his high school prom pic and making him John Travolta for a day and combing the two top disco movies JT was in! LOL Airbrushed on the dance floor (ick--still need practice with fine lines), the body is a FBCT with an edible image head, and tons of hologram pixie dust.

Well here is the cake I finished for today. Two tiers are yellow with canolli filling and the others are choc with strawberry custard. This cake was inspired by a few I have seen, it was a lot of fun. The pink things sticking out are acutally little poodles who have skirts and sunglasses on. They are really cute in person.

Thanks for looking.

I made this cake for my mothers 50th birthday party, which was the 50's theme. Everything is buttercream icing except for the skirt it is fondant. The poodle is a patch I bought. The records were iced and then I took a comb & made the lines, and the label is fondant. This cake is really easy.

As I'm sure most of you are aware, this cake has been done several times on this site. It's because it's the quentessiential 50s cake! I had to come up with an idea for a 50s cake for my father's 50th birthday and I was stuck. I came to cakecentral, where I know there'll be great ideas and found this cake. I really am not sure who the original creator is, but thank you all for the idea. It's the best idea for a 50s cake EVER! Thanks again.
