This was based on a cake from one of the Wilton yearbooks. It's a little simpler than theirs, but I think it came out ok. The Butterflies and flowers are chocolate clay. I used the spray color from Wilton but I don't think I'll use it again-it seems to accentuate any bumps in my frosting job!

This cake is a mixture of different ideas I received from several CC members and their cakes. The top layer is white & the bottom layer is chocolate. Iced in pink BC. The flowers and the number "1" are made of fondant. The name is made of cookies. This was for some friends of ours who was having a large party for their daughter at our church. They were so happy with the cake. Thanks for looking!

I made this for my grandson's 1st birthday. It is a 14" chocolate, vanilla, & strawberry cake. My daughter wanted it to look like the plate. I was very pleased with the way it turned out.

Another request for the block message cake. 8" square, then 7 squares cut out. I learned a new way to work with the blocks. I place the individual squares on wax paper, then frost the four sides. I then pipe the block look outline and the side letters upside down. Then I flip the square onto the cake board, ice the top, finish off the block outline and large letter. Much easier to work with and the block has the letter represented on each side of the block.

This goes with the cake entitled "Happy 1st birthday Jaelynn". It is a yellow marbled cake with buttercream icing. Some of the decorations on both cakes were purchased at a cake supply store. A # 1 candle was placed on the top part of the cake at the party.

White cake w/ BC and fondant accents. Customer gave me a napkin to work from and told me to come up with something. This is my interpretation! It is definitely not perfect but I am still practicing. Thanks to those on the site who've done similar cakes..it got the creative juices flowing. :) I will post 2nd pic of this cake, smash cake and napkin together.

This is a cake for my Grandfather's 74th Birthday. He is an Army Veteran. When he saw this cake, he was speachless (and that's NOT him)! lol It is a carrot cake with creamcheese icing. The patch is made of color flow, and the guns are all molded chocolate.

Got the idea from the Wilton website, this is the 1st cake I have EVER decorated for a birthday party. Normally, I just spread frosting on a boxed cake. Not bad ha? By the way, It was for my baby's 1st birthday

This is the cake I made for my grandson's 1st birthday.
It was 2 hearts put together and various angles. The arms, legs, tail, spikes on the sides were all cookies that had been cut out and baked before i baked it.

These are the matching cookies I made for my grandson's 1st birthday.
They were quite a hit! :)
They started out as heart cutouts.
The blue spikes around their face did not photograph well... actually they are bright purple.

I made another cake..you guys just make me want to bake. I got this inspiration from Susan 94. I just loved the cake she made so I tried to do it for a friends little girls's 1st birthday. I tried the viva smoothing method, and it worked great. Again CC is great and such and inspiration. I only bake for friends and family and give them away. This is 11X15 and all buttercream.

The cakes are Fr. Vanilla and very plain. I matched the colors and the cake style to the plates and decorations that the customer gave me. The bear is to be placed in the center of the cake by the customer once she arrives at her party destination. I just didn't place the dowels in yet so I could take a "clean" picture. My printing is in need of more practice....I usually handwrite my messages, but per request of the customer I printed this time.(BADLY, LOL!)

This was dd first cake from start to finish completely by herself. She used a DH butter pecan mix, and made regular buttercream frosting. She did everything from greasing and flouring the pan to decorating. THis cake was her anniversary gift to my inlaws for their 42nd. Not only did it look pretty good but it tasted good too. Great Job Catharine!!!!

This is a cake for a one year old boy's birthday. It is chocolate and white, iced in buttercream. The hills and train are fondant. I got a lot of great ideas from train cakes on here and added a few of my own, and this is the final result.

Although I have been decorating cakes for a few yrs, I had never done a wedding cake until now. My cousin wanted silk flowers for the top of the cake, but the rest is buttercream icing (& the cake is a cream cheese pound cake!)

I did this cake for a friend's daughter's 1st birthday...this is the 1st 2 tier cake I've made...did buttercream icing and fondant for the dots. Had a bit of trouble with the fondant coloring bleeding onto the cake--I don't know if this is usually a probelem when it's hot and humid?? Maybe I need a new recipe? Had anyone else had this problem?
Anyways, it was a fun experiment...it's only my 2nd cake I've made for someone outside of family, and my first time with fondant, so I was happy with the results.
