I am making a birthday halloween cake for a co-worker of my sons. The party will be Saturday night. I was told that to make it for about 35 people. Then my son said about 50-60 people. Now its for 110 people. From 35 to 110 is quite a jump and now I'm lost as to what to do. I already made 2 12X12 square layers for the bottom of the cake. Where do I go from here do I add 2 more 6x6 square layers for the next tier. Or should I make round cakes for the next layer? How many more layers do I need to feed 110 people. I also made one of those haunted castles made out of gingerbread for the top of the cake. Please can anyone help me out with this problem.

Nancy

A lot of times to save money on decorating, a bride will order a smaller cake and then extra sheet cakes that stay and are cut in the kitchen...so nobody knows because they are all the same flavor. Why don't you make the cake as you originally intended and bake a couple of sheet cakes on the side. I'll find the link for you to guide you as far as servings go.

According to that serving chart you already have 144 pieces with your 2 12 inch cakes.

Did you see the spooky cake challenge? What about using your bottom 12 inch as a base, then using the other 12 inch to cut and stack a hill for your haunted house to sit on. Add a candy corn fence, a few other assorted halloween items and there you go. OH yeah did you see how the one cake had cotton candy as spider webs hanging in the trees and on the house? Cool idea

um... by the chart two 12" cakes make one cake to serve 72. You could make two 8" for the top. That would give you 104 servings. Or do two 10" if you want left overs. Or two 10" rounds will give will give you exactly 110.

Thank you so very much for your kind words of encouragement. I really needed to hear that from someone other than my hubby and kids. You gave my day a smile. Thanks

It's absolutely adorable.

And not everyone eats cake, I always find there is leftover desserts at parties, don't worry.

The alcohol is usually always gone though! icon_smile.gif
