Hi to all,
i'm a newbie in this forum, and to tell you honestly i've enjoyed reading every topic, especially that concerns the MMF.
My daughter will be celebrating her birhday this November, and i'm planning to try this mmf, but i do have some questions:
1. can i use any cake with mmf, like chocolate fudge cake? because i read somewhere that in fondant, one must use a firm cake, like carrot cakes..
2. on my daughters bday cake i'll be using 10" , 8", 5" round pans...how do i stack them? do i have to put a cakeboard on every stack of cake ?

Thank you very much, i know you can help me with this icon_biggrin.gif

Welcome to Cakecentral!

MMf works well on all sorts of cakes...don't think it would do well on a cheesecake though!

Here is some info on stacking cakes:

I just learned last night which really will help you out is that if you are trying to color the MMF. Right after you pull out the melted marshmellows from the microwave, but before you mix the marshmellows with the 10x sugar, tint the marshmellows the color that you want the MMF to be. I first tried making white MMF then kneeding in the color and it came out terrible. Then this morning, I remade the MMF and added the color to the melted marshmellows and it worked great. This afternoon I have to work on the flag that I am trying to make with the MMF colors. Have fun and good luck!

You can always add the color after the fondant is done, it's just easier if you add it to the melted marshmallows. Since it's so inexpensive, you can also make two batches of two different colors....

I always color mine after the fondant is done. I make a full bag recipe of mmf at one time and usually have some leftover that I save for another day. The colors turn out fine except that I hate all the kneeding, LOL.

I usually can guess pretty closely at how much I need of a certain color. I always try to color a little more than I think I need cause I don't want to run out and then have to try to match the color I had before.

Just have fun with the mmf, that's what I covered my 3-d car cake with in my profile and made the wheels and bumpers etc out of. It works great and my kids love it. My hubby doesn't like it but too bad, LOL.
