i'm new to using the kitchen aid mixer and i'm always reading about how everyone just loves their mixer...i think i'm using mine wrong! my batter still comes out lumpy and i can't seem to master making my buttercream frosting in it without still having lumps of sugar in it. help!

I had the same problem. I read somewhere that sifting the mix and the powdered sugar will help eliminate the lumps. I tried it witht he sugar, and it does help...it comes out much smoother.

How are you adding your ingredients and how long you mix and your speed will all make a difference.
