Is there anything cheaper out there?! I was amazed- didn't want to spend $200.00 for a piece of equipment I'll only occasionally use! What about a toy/kid's projector? Or the ancient one my Grandma had?

we used those projectors at the bakeries i used to work at.

why not just do a buttercream transfer?

to me it seems alot faster.

I guess I like to do more open, delicate designs. Wish I had a picture of a couple cakes I did that took me MANY hours of laying out the design & and marking the cake so everything lined up just right! Just thought a projector might save some time! Everyone that I know that has one LOVES it.

keep your eyes open on ebay for one, i just got the K1000 $105, that included the shipping, it was a buy it now at $75, so i couldn't pass it up. this is the 3rd one i have got from ebay, 2 were for other people. This would be the best place for the best price, but it just takes time. Late Friday and Saturday night i a good time to look.

I love mine. It has paid for itself many times! I haven't done a buttercream transfer since I got it. I really like buttercream transfers but they can be time consuming. With the kopycake projector it makes it a lot easier to copy an even more intricate design.

You will not regret your purchase,

I could kick myself! The grocery store I worked at many years ago went out of business and liquidated everything. I found out too late to get any of the good decorating stuff. But I did score a spray gun pretty cheap. They had the projector too, and I decided at the time I didn't want it. I could have picked it up for under $50. I just cringe when I think about it!!

E bay had an auction on a lot of kitchen equipment, and the opening bid on a projector was $2- and nobody was bidding! The problem was that there was a hefty fee if they had to package and ship the item to you and the auction was in Florida- I'm in Ohio! I passed!

Wow, sweetcakes! The cheapest I have been able to find on ebay for a K1000 has been 279.00 + and additional 36.00 for shipping. What is the seller ID you purchased it from? Maybe they will have another one list at that price! Wow!

Thanks!

Lea

I ordered my directly from Kopy Kake. Their service is fantastic. I promised myself that everytime I did a large cake order....I would buy one big thing that would help my business. First was the projector, then I bought an airbrush and now I want a printer to do edible images. Haven't bought that yet....just checking out prices and weighing my options right now. Waiting for that next big cake order.

Thanks for the info southernbelle. I'll check Kopy Kake out directly as you did and see if that is the way for me to go when I do get ready for one of their machines. Any ideas on what type of edible image copier is the best on the market?

Lea

I am thinking of going with the Epson printer and then ordering the edible ink and icing sheets from Kopy Kake. Just haven't gotten to the point of purchase just yet..... icon_confused.gif

to get a good price off ebay you'll need to wait for an individual seller, not a company. i got mine from a lady who had a cake business and was selling off her stuff. i was on it as she posted it, obviously she didn;t do any homework cause she had a buy it now for $75 and it was in perfect condition. i lucked out, but they do come around, and i have added you to my buddy list so i will email you if i see one come up. OK. icon_smile.gif

I own my own bakery in a little town in middle Ga and I have the kopykake projector and a cannon ink jet printer for ediable images. I use the cannon ip2000 more then the projector. I wouldn't take anything for my printer, i use it every day. and the projector is great cause i can't draw. The best place is like everyone is saying go on ebay.

What about buying the system to use for yourself, but putting up a local website for your town and charge a fee for printing other people's pictures for them on it...not sure if you'd have to have a 'commercial' kitchen for that since it's edible...but it's an idea!!
