'll get my grandmothers recipe this evening and post it. It's melt-in-your- mouth good but what divinity isn't.

Thank you.... all of you! I am trying to make some for a party Friday night. The lady called me today at work and said that she wants me to make divinity and gingerbread men along with the cake. I love divinity, just don't have a recipe for it.

Thanks again! I will be looking forward to your posts.

I make fudge and divinity every year with the old family recipes and always get loads of compliments. Here is the recipe:

Divinity
2.5 cups white sugar
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1/4 t salt
2 egg whites (beaten stiff)
1-2 t vanilla
1.5 cups chopped pecans

Prepared buttered 8 x 8 or 9 x 11 pan. In saucepan combine sugar, water, syrup and salt. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture boils. Cooking until forms very hard ball when dropped in cold water (266*). Meanwhile, beat egg whites until very stiff. (do this so that is finishes shortly before sugar reahes 266*). Slowly pour hot moxture over eggs while beating (mixer high speed) constantly. Continue beating until candy is very stiff and holds its shape. Add vanilla and nuts. Mix. Pour into buttered 8 x 8 or 9 x 11 pan. Let stand about an hour until firm.

Hope you like it! Let me know how it is! [email protected]. icon_smile.gif
