I have a 1/2 sheet cake due this Friday morning. I figured that I would bake on Tues. and have Wed & Thurs to finish decorating as the design is a little complicated. Well, I baked two 1/4 sheet cakes last night one yellow and the other white, trimmed and put them on the board.

DH loves to eat the trimmings. After one bite he looked at me and said that it tastes nothing like my usual cakes and he would serve it because it tasted like it was not cooked all the way. So, I had my best friend taste it just to for a second opinion. Same reply! icon_cry.gif

So now I am one day short on my plans as I have to rebake tonight, BTW the kids are very happy about it because now they get cake sooner than they thought.

I used DH box mix, as usual, nothing added to it. I baked at 350, using the bake even strips, and it still took 65 minutes before I was getting a clean knife from the cake. I thought that it was done...but it was not. icon_cry.gificon_cry.gif

What temp, and how long do you bake at? I just don't know what I did wrong.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!
TIA

you might want to get your oven checked...make sure the thermostat that measures the heat isn't broken and giving you incorrect readings on the temp....this happened to me once...the oven read 350 but the actual temp (using one of those temp. reader thingys that you use to cook turkeys) said 275!!

Hopefully I'm wrong and it's just a bad batch of DH cake mix....I'm so sorry this happened to you!

Try using the flower nails as a heating core.

icon_confused.gif Why didn't I think of the flower nail? I have used it that was before. Duh..... icon_confused.gif

Thanks! I guess that I just got so frustrated that I couldn't think!

I would reduce the temp to 325 degrees.
