I'm trying to create a cake for our state fair, which of course is due tomorrow! We're allowed to use styrofoam which I've already shaped. My question is this: how do I cover it with fondant? Do I need to put something on it first? Will it adhere? Will you be able to see the imperfections of the styrofoam? THANKS! icon_confused.gif

When I cover fondant I rub the entire styrofoam surface with straight Vodka!! Others brush on a thin mixture of clear corn syrup and water...and other only use water.I like the Vodka because if you need to pull it off and fix it...it comes off very easy. The syrup won't allow this as it just tears.Try a few methods and see what works best for you!

I LOVE the vodka idea...but I use clear jelly, like apricot or apple. True, once it's on it's on for good!
