Hi Everyone,
I wanted to share my entry for this year's State Fair. I made a hat box with accessories made out of fondant. There is a pair of gloves with lacey ruffles, a string of pearls, lipstick, eye shadow (hard to see in the photo), a Breast Cancer Awareness bracelet that has the little ribbon symbol embossed on it and the ribbon that says "For Grandma".

I had this idea and since October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, I thought it would be cool. So pink it is! And, it's dedicated to my Grandma who passed away of Cancer in April. When I was making the ribbon, I just broke down. I think maybe just seeing the word "Grandma" really got to me. Then when I was editing these photos to post, I realized today's date. Today would have been her 91st birthday. That must be a sign, right?

I have never entered any contest other than here at CC before so I'm very excited and very nervous. Judging is Tuesday the 11th. Thanks for looking!

icon_biggrin.gif I love your entry...Is that a dummy cake inside ?
please tell us the results on Wednesday...When I entered the
California State Fair last August for the very first time, just like you,
I won First Place (Blue Ribbon), Best of Show, Best of Division and Best of Class, Judges gave me a perfect score 100%.....It's such a good feeling to win awards esp. if it's your first time entering...
Good luck....

Hey Kim....Is the cake gonna be on display when the fair opens on Friday? (this is the fair at the Coliseum, right?) I would love to go and say, "I know that cake!!!!"

I am DYING to find out how my cake did. They did judging on Tue ( 11th) but the fair doesn't even open until Friday, 14th. And I can't even go that day to find out how I did!!! And they don't call to tell you if you won or anything.

Gina, yes it will be on display in the Coliseum. It's in a glass case. Or at least it was when I left it there. I was the very first one to drop off my cake so I don't know if it got moved or not.

I'm hoping to find a way to get there on Friday...this is just torture! LOL!

Thanks everyone for all the very kind comments!
