Krispy Kreme doughnuts!! This was confirmed by an independent taste test. Meaning I made DH eat some and asked him what it tasted like. What had taken me days to figure out he determined in the space of about 38 seconds. Just shows you who's been eating more doughnuts! icon_lol.gif

No wonder people like it so much. I also just used it to start on my first honest to goodness try at making a rose. It's very easy to work with.

Thanks alimonkey...can't wait to try it.

Where did you get yours from?

I got mine from a local cake supply shop. It didn't even cost much more than Wilton. It's way more expensive than MMF, though, so I may still use that for covering cakes & just use the Satin Ice for decorations.

I have some. They were giving it away at the ICES convention and I have yet to use it. I have to give it a try.

Keep in mind that although Satin Ice costs a bit more - it doesn't take quite as much to cover a cake. You can roll it out a bit thinner. I purchased enough Satin Ice fondant to make my fall wedding cakes last year using the wilton fondant chart and only used 1/2 of it on the cakes! I have been using the same bucket since then and still have a little left!

Does it dry hard on the cake? I know MMF doesn't go real hard.

I've never had a problem with it getting hard on a cake.

It has a mild vanilla flavor. I've never heard anyone say it tasted like krispy creme.

I don't really like krispy kremes either, but not because of the flavor. I don't like them because they have too much glaze on them so they're too sweet. If you're eating the fondant straight out of the tub, it's really sweet, but I think it would be OK rolled out on cake.

I also tasted Wilton fondant for the first time last night. It tastes like old cooking oil to me.

I've got to try Satin Ice now. I love Krispie Kreme doughnuts. I've always wanted to try this icing but was unsure of the taste. Thanks for letting us know.

I used Satin Ice for the first time last night. Really easy to work with....haven't had enough CC donuts to know the taste!!! I think it has a nice flavor.....unlike WILTON!!!! It looks nice... My cake supply store owner, who was my Wilton instructor, gave me some to try. Nice girl, huh?!!
