Help I Have An Order For A Cake For Today In Mmf None Made!!
Decorating By vie Updated 2 Oct 2005 , 2:37pm by MrsMissey
Hello everyone, I am stuck really bad. I have a cake order for today and I had no MMF made. I just made a batch and was wondering if I don't leave it set over night what would happen? Also, for some reason I couldn't mix all the icing sugar (about 1 1/2 cups less) now what?
I know don't panic but this will be my fist cake with fondant let alone with MMF.
Ok all please help me
Thanks Sylvie
I never get all the sugar mixed in so don't worry about that! Also I rarely is ever let it sit over night so go ahead and and use it today. No worries! Hope you cake turns out great.
Thanks peacockplace. I know I should at least let it rest about 2 hours. Any longer and the cake won't be ready on time. I hope that is enough time tho.
Again peacockplace, thank you
Sylvie
I've done lots of MMF cakes. I ususally don't let it rest at all. I know that goes against the rules... but I've never had any problems.
I am soooooo glad that you ask this question Vie, I am making daughters BD cake for party tomorrow and have not made MMF yet, glad to know that I don't have to actually let it set for 24 hrs. Thanks Girls.
Don't worry too much about letting it rest. I put my MMF on my cake the same day and it came out really well.!!!
Gulp....now y'all have me worried. I made my first batch last night and its still resting. Is that a problem?? Any idea what the shelf life is as long as its airtight?
You're fine, calm down. I have kept mine in the fridge for a least a week, so I am sure it is fine at room temp for a couple of days. There is nothing in there that will spoil!
Well the MMF performed well. I was able to roll it and put it on top of a ball cake.
Now my only problem is to get rid of the lines when I put it on and overlapped some of it.
Man I need a lesson in fondant.... sooooooooon!
Thanks everyone
Sylvie
I have never been able to get all the sugar in and I didnt realize you were supposed to let it rest.. I used mine as soon as I made it.. Im sure yours will be fine too.. Good luck with your cake..
Liz
I never use all the sugar either.
Sylvie- Can you cover up the creases with some decoration? We won't tell!
