OK Carrie what did ya do about your dilemma...lots of ideas I see, but what did you decide on????? I would love to hear and see some of your creations!
Especially now since I am wanting to get a kitchenaid!!!!!!!
Well... I spent a lot of time at the grocery store for one thing. Just trying to get the best prices on my ingredients. It paid off though. I have started my list of cakes and am still adding to it. I have decided to do a lot of chocolate cakes with different incings like peanut butter, white chocolate bc, regular bc, and a creamcheese icing with candy bar topping. Other cakes are simple pound cakes with lots of flavor. And the best part is that they are all $5 and $6 my cost. This way I can make some money on them and get my name out there at the same time. I have not taken pictures of them since they are not really decorated with alot of stuff. But they do look delicious. I will try to snap some and send them to your email if you want.
Dawn really gave me some great ideas and the matrix is such a lifesaver. If you don't have it you might wanna ask her for it.
Thanks for asking about my dilemma.
Carriemyvoice, I see that you are in GA . I am too.
By the way, Publix usually has eggs on sale (at least once a month) 2 for $1.00. And milk (buy one get on free) too. Kroger's too. Next time I see a sale, I'll let you know.
Thanks for the tip Mchelle. I only have a Kroger here. I wish we did have a Publix. They can have a good sale on eggs, and sometimes flour and sugar too.
Cake Maker, Are you refering to Dawns recipes or some of mine?
Dawn is right! To me table cakes are the most delicious and tempting cakes to make.
Recipes from either Carriemyvoice or Dawn would be great. Tried and true recipes are what i'm interested in. It's always good to know that someone you "know" has tried them out and that they are good!
Thanks!
Debbie
Some of my recipes are from the Cake Mix Doctor. If you don't have that book let me know. Also, just send me your email and I will get you the recipes.
Thanks! I know they have that at the library - what recipes do you recommend? I've tried a couple of them and they were great but always like recommendations!
Debbie
I just made the buttermilk spice cake out of the cake mix doctor book, and then made the orange cream cheese frosting- but substituted lemon juice for the orange juice. It is delicious!
the peanut butter frosting is good on the buttermilk chocolate cake, it is very rich! The lemon pound cake is great too. I use the buttermilk chocolate cake and change the icings. I have a recipe for an icing that is creamcheese, cool-whip, and powdered sugar. It is very light and goes great on a german chocolate layer cake. (this recipe is not in the book)
I am going to make a pineapple upside down cake except in layers and then frost it with a pineapple cream cheese icing. It is something I just thought up this weekend. I'm sure it will be very rich too. I will let you know how it turns out.
Thank you! I'm getting hungry now! I've been looking for the right chocolate cake too. I'll have to try the buttermilk chocolate one.
