Do you all have a seperate printer for your edible art, or do you use it for other print projects? Also is it just Canon printers, or will a HP printer work?

You can't use printers that you have already used for other printable projects.Edible ink is different from regular ink and the cross contamintaion can be dangerous. You need to purchase a new printer specifically for edible images. As far as I have seen Canon is the only printer that can be used for edible images.I believe the model IP 1500 AND IP 3000 are the most popular although if you go to other edible image sites like Kopykake.com each has other models available for different price ranges.

I got my ip3000 from ebay. Not able to find too many Canon printers here. Best Buy had the ip1500, but I really wanted the one that had 4 tanks.

I have the Canon IP4000, 5 tank printer. The ink will dry if it isn't used for an extended time. I have protected the ports by removing the cartridges and covering them with the original tape then scotch tape over that. When I need it again a couple of automatic cleanings and they're good as new in most cases. The best source I've found for the ink is at Carrotink.com.

Gil--

Does Carrotink.com carry the food color cartridges? I didn't see any details about food color cartridges.

OOPS! Sorry everyone. That's where I get my regular ink from. My edible comes from Kopykake.com. Glad I haven't had to order lately!! I last ordered the refill kit and it seemed to work great when I ran out of black as I was printing an image. Again, sorry for the mislead.
