What a great opportunity to do a checkerboard cake INSIDE icon_wink.gif then you can do whatever you like on the outside with the daisy and you get the best of both worlds thumbs_up.gif

Is it checked or gingham? Sounds like me...love anything gingham and daisies!

I saw a cake on here somewhere. It was covered with white fondant with gingham ribbon around the base with daisies...I'll look around and see if I can find it. I loved it!

And my sister loves black and white checkerboard (she is very into ska music)

Here is a link to a past discussion of how to make a Checkerboard cake without the pans and inserts. I hope this helps, or at least is a start for you.

I love daisies myself and I was thinking if you wanted to do a tier cake. Do a sort of Checkered or Gingham pattern around the outsides of each tier then Put daisies on top as a topper. Depends on how Fancy, whimsical, fun, or classy you want to go. There are so many options I can think of with this combo.

Can't wait to see the cake!

Also check out my pictures I have a checkerboard cake in there for the 4th of july-so it is actually 3 colors instead of two. But it will still give you an idea of what it looks like after it is cut if you haven't seen one.

Here's the instructions that I used for piping a Checkerboard cake. (I'm too cheap to buy the pans icon_biggrin.gif ):

Also, I baked the cake in only two pans, then torted the layers. Even tho' it's far from perfection, here's the final outcome:

Thanks for the help everyone.
As you can see I didn't do a tiered cake becuase my sister and mom don't want leftover cake. (who wouldn't want leftover cake icon_twisted.gif )
I tried to do the checkerboard desing inside but I don't think it worked. When I took it out of the pan it just looked all swirly.
Anyways I'm happy with it and I know my sister is gonna love it.,
So thanks again for all the help! thumbs_up.gif
