Not to diminish Rita's victims, but boy has it ever been hot here! Yesterday we were the nation's hot spot. It hit 109 on the 2nd (3rd?) day of fall. I don't even want to turn the oven on but I have to make a cake for my final class of Course II (also my mom & brother's birthday cake.) Today we're *only* supposed to get to 101. icon_cry.gif

I can sympathize. Although we have not been THAT hot, we have been warmer than we should be. A few days ago, it was almost 90. Ummm....hello? Where the heck is the crisp fall air? Well, it is here now. It is only in the low 70's, low humidity. And Thursday? We'll be lucky to 60.

Bring it on! icon_lol.gif

alimonkey,

I can feel your pain...I refuse to visit my sisters in Houston in the summertime again...once was enough for me, the heat made me sick for three days. icon_cry.gif

My visits are in the cooler months.

tell me about it. But being here in FL we are used to it. Lucky if I can turn my air at 2 months out of the year.

ddog - I'm not even talking about heat index. That was ACTUAL TEMP! I couldn't believe it. Stupid me went out with my running club on Sunday, not realizing it was 108 that day, too! DH was the smart one. He stayed home and took DD swimming.

Hey Ali~ We have broken a few record temps this & last week. I'm beginning to think it will never get cool BUT the news tonight said the Thurs. temp is supposed to be 79 high & 59 low!! So maybe there's hope yet! I'm just worried about everyone getting a bad winter! I can handle cold but I hate rain! Maybe we have some cooler days on the way.

Donna, where in La. are you?

Yeah, there are plenty without power that are suffering through some pretty nasty heat, too. I really feel for them. Weathermen are saying all this heat's Rita's fault, too.

We were supposed to get weather with highs in the mid-80's on Thursday, but now they's saying it will still be in mid-the 90's, (except Thurs, which is supposed to be rainy & 87).

Current temp at 11pm 82/86with heat index. icon_cry.gificon_cry.gificon_cry.gificon_cry.gificon_cry.gif

TC - Donna's in W. Monroe (NE LA- I looked)

Hey ddog, that's funny. You all will be wearing swimsuits to go trick or treating and we'll be wearing snowsuits up here!! We've had some beautiful weather up here lately. I feel very guilty enjoying it with all the bad weather the south has had in the last month or so! But I'll be complaining come March and April, when we still have two feet of snow on the ground!!

After 8 straight days of record-breaking heat (it hit 106 again yesterday) it's only supposed to get to 84 today. Back up to 90 tomorrow, but at least it's starting to cool a bit.

Can't wait to get out for a run today!

Our weather is nice & cool today!! High is supposed to only be around 78*!!! I've got the livingroom windows open enjoying nice cool, fresh breeze!! The rest of the week is supposed to stay in the 80's! I can handle that!! I just hope we're not going to have anymore HOT weather but I'm sure we will!! Like someone said earlier we might be able to put up the tank tops & flip flops in Dec. icon_smile.gif

Hey Donna, We should try & get together sometimes since we're so close (well 2 hours). My son is starting his 1st REAL job on Monday. It's in Columbia, La. It's right out of Monroe. Do you know where that is? He'll be working on a bridge there. Can't remember the company name. He'll be there during the week then home on weekends. Poor thing is sick too! I'm taking him to the dr. later today. When he asks to go to the dr. I know he's sick!

Hey Donna,

Son is fine. The dr. put him on z-pak. So he should be feeling better by Monday when he starts his new job in Columbia. He's staying there with his girlfriends dad (the boss) during the week. After he gets his first paycheck he'll be renting a trailer on the site. That's a long drive from here!

We'll have to get together one of these days! It's a date! Gosh, you kids are small!! Mine are 18, 17, & 15. I'll be talking to you! Glad to meet another decorator that lives pretty close! Cool!!
