a customer can't make up her mind on what to do for her son's birthday cake.
She likes camoflauge, bugs, tools, and cars.

I thought about doing three 6 inch cakes each with a different theme.
She liked that idea too, but I think I under quoted myself!!

What should I charge for three 6 inch cakes. I would hopefully only be using buttercream icing, and maybe one batch of MMF.

Or does anyone have any ideas on how to make a large cake with all these themes?

Thanks a bunch.

You could do a picture of a bug mechanic working on a car or truck wearing camoflauge. You could do one big cake and use a BCT.
Hope this helps.

Ok this one may be a far fetch. However I can get Bugs/tool/car into one cake.

Make a car out in the grass with tools around it like it is being worked on (or next to a garage that is being worked on depending on what tools he likes) Then have bugs in the grass icon_smile.gif

Oh wait I just figured it out, a camoflauge car! LOL, as if camo isn't hard enough to do (at least for me)

Can't wait to see what you come up with.

those are great ideas. makes me laugh. especially a bug working on a car.
oh gosh...all of a sudden that short story popped in my head about a guy who turns into a bug but no one else sees him as a bug. metamorphis (i think that was then name...)

how could i make a car 3D? I would need it small enough to fit on a cake to allow for the grass , bugs, and tools.

I think it would be cute to do a 10, 8, and 6 stacked round cake and do a theme for each tier. You could use 3 inch pans with no filling so it would not be too complicated. I would charge around 80.00. If that is too much cake...I would go with an 11x15 or 12x18 sheet and incorporate all three themes. You could do the 3D cruiser and make it camo on top of a sheet cake as well...and then put on some bugs and tools. Sounds like it will be a lot of fun to make!

Depending on how many you need the cake to feed, you could use a large cake board. Do the 3D car and then use the house pan or cut a cake to make a mechanics garage standing next to it. Then you could just add the tools, bugs, grass and whatever else on the cake board.

I loved the stacked cakes idea traci!! but the customer would not want to pay that much. she is really on a tight budget.

yes I think this will be a fun cake for sure!!! it is just getting the ideas to come together.
