My DD is turning 8 and is totally in love with the Volks Bug! Flower and all. She is already asking when she will "get her car" icon_cry.gif . Ha Ha!! For her birthday I want to do a replica of the kind she wants: Purple with a big yellow flower on top! I thought about using the car cake pan Wilton makes but it doesnt excactly look like a "bug" Has anyone done one or seen pictures they could share with me? Thanks a bunch! God Bless.

My daughter also loves these cars! I think I would do a sheet cake and do a gel transfer or a BCT of a Slug bug. You could then make it whatever color you wanted and put flowers on it. The other thing would be to find an image online and have an edible picture made. If you could find a cute plastic slug bug...you could put that on top of the flower power cake pan. I am sure your daughter will love whatever you do! icon_smile.gif

Godsgrace,

Here is a cake that I did for a 9 year old girl this summer. She also LOVES Volkswagon Beetles (lime green was her fave color) and the retro daisy look.

I went to the Volkswagon website and downloaded & printed out some images of the classic body style. Then, I simply did a piping gel transfer - it was a very easy cake to do. The daisies are done with a tip 10, and I used a tip 3 for the center of the daisy.

I hope this helps!

What part of Houston do you live in? I am from the NW side in the Copperfield area.

maybe you could use cake scraps to mold and add the shape the 3D car. I heard that if you much the scraps mix with alittle icing to bind this helps to form a shape for fondant to lay on!! hope this helps.
